ARC / Document True Copy verification at TECO offices

Hi,

I live part time in the US and am currently an ARC holder. I have had a continuous problem where when applying for various things in Taiwan, they often require a verified true copy of my ARC card.

The TECO office in NY always refuses to authenticate the copy of my ARC and my US passport. Instead, they always refer me to get it authenticated by a notary public, and then bring it back and they can authenticate the notary public seal.

Its very frustrating because by law (in NY and in Michigan) notary publics CANNOT verify true copies. I have contacted the consulate several times about this issue and it always turns into a bureaucratic feedback loop. No US authority is qualified to verify an ARC copy, as far as I can tell, except the consulate. But they refuse to perform this service.

Has anyone found a workaround for this problem?

I would try contacting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice through their websites. Good luck. :four_leaf_clover:
