Best place to go to sit the HSK in 2018?

Hi,

Where is currently the best place to go to sit the HSK from Taiwan? I saw a previous post on here mentioning Okinawa, however that post was from a few years ago and I’d like some more up-to-date suggestions.

Surprisingly, I don’t think China would be my best choice. As I’m British I would have to pay for a visa, and there aren’t many budget airlines with routes from my home in Kaohsiung. It seems like it would be too time-consuming and expensive to go to the mainland.

Has anyone does this recently? If so, where did you go?

I should also point out that I want to do the internet-based test.

Any help would be appreciated.

What do you mean by “best place”? The cheapest flights (under 2 hours from Taipei, don’t know about Kaohsiung) and cheap hotels, are to Manila. Wonder if this alternative reality called Taiwan has any options at all for HSK.

I suspect Philippines has a lot of people taking the test so they can qualify for Chinese speaking job. And prep and set-up would be in English, not Japanese that might be happening in Japan. This page lists places in Philippines: https://www.chinaeducenter.com/en/hsk/hsktestcenter_asia5.php

Macau is cheaper for flights, its like 2,500 NT return. You can get hotel deals too.

If Macau isn’t your cup of tea there’s still HK.

They do offer it in Thailand, but when I looked it up a few years ago the information was in Thai.

acvording to your link it is offered in macau. check it again. macau is in the location field in the drop down menu, and if you click it it gives you the details of where you can take it in macau.or just google hsk macau

This web page has worldwide locations, dates, and registration information. For example,

  • Eight locations in Philippines, some with scheduled tests coming up.
  • One location in Macau but no scheduled tests.

A big question I have "Does the HSK have a traditional option or only simplified?

I seem to recall hearing of the traditional character HSK, but you need to check what’s available at the specific testing site.
