Coughing since I've been here. Is it the air pollution, humidity, or other?

It is really hard to put a price tag on feeling better. Especially after you are recovered!

Yep, it is important to explain as the Adventist offers two kinds of services: one is the normal NHI based one, the other is the Priority Care Center.

While the NHI is good enough and pretty accessible, some people prefer private care. Of course, the difference is paying 550 ntd for NHI care, while PCC consultation costs about average 10 thousand ntd.

Honestly, I got the blood allergy test at our local Cardinal Tien hospital, which is not top notch, and it was free with NHI as it was ordered by the allergy/immunology specialist.

I’ve only used the NHI option at Adventist. I know they offer Priority Care, but I haven’t tried it. The doc said they NHI would only cover 2 weeks of my medicine, and I could choose to buy the remaining 2 weeks out of pocket for $150 NT, which of course I chose.

Poor cat, dander is not so bad -just brush him frequenty, do not wash too frequently!

An air purifier is a must in every home in Taiwan, along with dehumidifiers in winter. Mattresses are better sealed in plastic, but the 3M special mite and dust covers will do. They also have special pillows and mattresses. Change/rotate frequently.

I also have a water vapor “broom”. It helps to kill mites and other critters in sofas, chairs, any surface. No damage and very effective.

In winter, I take allergy medication, one little pill every night. Zyrtec I think it is called. No more sneezing my nose off… in Taiwan at least. Under NHI, 150 ntd every month, a month’s dosage.

Can you show a picture or link to what this is? Sometimes when I turn the sofa cushions I’ll see a scurrying silverfish, and the only treatment I ever give the sofa is vacuuming. It’d be nice to do a bit more.

I think I need one of those water vapor brooms. Where can I get one?

I even have a special Japanese bedding heater that you wrap around stuff and basically kill everything with heated air.

Those are life savers on days where it’s 100% humidity and 10 degrees outside.

They are pretty expensive though.

Is that the one they were selling on TV? It looks awesome.

The first one they sold it here at the office, but it is available at department stores. The smaller one I have now I bought from a Forumosan but I need to go home to take a picture.

EDIT:
The first one I had looked like this:

Other models I found on Yahoo:

Handheld is something like this:

So you have everything from less than 2000 ntd to nearly 8000 ntd. Yes, silversfish will be gone, along with fleas and their eggs. And mites, of course.

EDIT 2:
Seems Costco has a model:

Yes wife bought it its like a giant blowdryer that you wrap over bedding and afterwards everything is dry and toasty.
Pretty bizarre but I think it does work.
Probably your vapour thing is easier to use.

@Icon

Yah, it’s so awesome and good for when your towels or clothes don’t dry. I have to believe it uses up a lot of electricity though.

That’s the one.
