Cracking the Naturalization Language Exam - A Guide

I took my test 4 months ago at the local HHR (Hsinchu county). They said, “no need pre-registration, come any time, pay 500NT and take your chance”. I am not sure about the other locations.

Any HHR offices in Taipei City do the test every week day.

Residents of other cities may need pre-registration before 10th day of every month, to take a test on 15th of the month, but that is an old info.

Question: Is there an English version of this test to study…? Can I find it online. Thanks for any links that can assist me.

Cfinones has he sent you the link for the exam? If you have it could you an it to me too. I am planning to take it. Thanks a Lot.

I am curious, say you did this hack and then went to the military for a year or whatever it is. How much of a hard time are you going to have with shit Chinese?

@Andrew0409 What one on one instructions do they give you?

I didn’t take an exam. I was born in Taiwan with ROC citizenship.

While in the military, how would you get by with having shit Chinese if you never learnt and used this “cracking the naturalization language exam guide” to pass the test.

Oh I mean my Chinese isn’t excellent but it’s not exactly shit. I can handle speaking and listening fine in that environment. Read basic instructions. For writing as I mentioned in my thread i use my social influences to have people write for me. I was well liked in my unit and by far the most in shape and probably intimidating for 19-23 year old Taiwanese young men.

Question list has been updated, new URL should be more stable:

I called a Kaohsiung HHRO today ask about the naturalization language exam. They told me I needed to do both the oral and the written exam. Can anyone confirm if this is the case now ? There’s no longer a choice between an oral or written exam ?

When I asked they said either oral or written. (This was in Taipei, last week)

This website is helping me a lot. It lets you sit as many practice tests as you like. https://iwnet.civil.taipei/Naturalization/

All of the information I’ve had before indicates it’s a choice. I know someone who went through the process recently who was ‘waved through’ the oral exam and not really told they were even taking a formal test.

for the ones who already have proof of completing at least 200 hours of chinese courses, can we get past the oral/written quiz?

Yes. If you have proof of Chinese courses you do not need to take the quiz.

And just attending a course is enough proof?

Thank you for confirmation. After checking the link and calling them again, they agreed that it is a choice. Oral exam isn’t mandatory.

Once the foreigner obtained naturalization , is it mandatory to have compulsory military service if you haven’t exceed the age limit of 36?

Yes. Additionally, if you were born before ~1993, it’s 1 year rather than 4 months.

Documentary evidence of attendance is required, and the attendance must be at government approved schools.
