Daily Photos -- Part 14

I figured it’s about time for part 14, especially since the old one hasn’t really been touched in almost a month. Also, hi!

Surprisingly green for Southern California:

Aquariums can be fun:

Long time no see. Where did you find those cute jellyfish?

Hi! You’ve been missed, perhaps especially by those of us who care about Taiwan but apparently don’t care enough to learn how to read the language and figure out the news for ourselves.

Nice pictures!

I’m not taking many pictures of late… a sad consequence of driving instead of walking everywhere.

I really like that last one!

Agree, that dog photo is quality!

Had a good trip back to Taiwan. I’ll stagger my updates so as not to flood this thread. I spent very little time in Taipei, so let’s get those out of the way first.

Shots from the HSR:

Bonus round: This ticket saleslady did her makeup like someone from 50 years ago. Look at that rouge!

Gorgeous, Hokwongwei.

Here are a few from a recent trip to Hualian (pre-typhoon).

also recent trip to Hualian. No animals were harmed during the filming of these photos. The fish however did nibble on my heels.

Hok, have you ever been to Oak canyon, just off of 91? It’s one of the greenest places I’ve seen in SoCal, aside from Big Bear of course.

Very nice. I’ve only seen a handful of sunrises in my life, mostly because I’m too lazy to wake up that early. :-s

There’s a lot of good destruction porn on showcase at the 9/21 Earthquake Museum in far eastern Taichung.

This one looks like a giant cockroach breaking free:

Bathrooms:

At a lakeside restaurant in Hualian, one cat that seems to taken the restaurant as their home stayed on my table through my dinner. I think it wants something to eat, but I didn’t want to give her anything that isn’t good for her. She’s adorable though.

Here’s my next batch:

Guangfu Xincun (光復新村) in Wufeng, Taichung. I guess it was a housing complex for civil servants belonging to the Taiwan provincial government, but now it’s just this huge expanse of fairly quaint homes in disrepair.

保密防諜人人有責 – Keep secrets and defend against spies. We all have a part to play.

三民主義統一中國 – Unify China under the Three Principles of the People

A little bit Big Brother here…

Quaint road sings:

Bugs!

Zinan Gong (Zinan Temple) in Nantou. Never been there and was a bit disappointed by how small it is. But the toilet’s nice, so that’s gotta count for something.

“Seven-star toilet”

Basket case

Xiaohei

All hail the great egg

There’s a park in Jiji, Nantou where they put old military equipment. Really weird.

There’s also this monument to destruction:

It’s a quaint little town.

I visited almost all of Bali’s waterfalls on my June trip there and they have been added to my waterfall guide. Sekumpul Waterfall above was one of the best waterfalls that I have ever seen. All of the waterfalls can be seen here - theworldisnotthatbig.com/2015/08 … aterfalls/

Xitou and thereaouts:

how close did you drive to 水漾森林? Did you have to park on the side of the mountain road and hike up? Or was there some kind of shuttle to pick you up?

Hokwongwei - you have to slow down on your posts otherwise nobody else will participate. That plane photo is awesome and looks like an interesting place to visit.
