Go about a block, past a Buddhist supply shop and tire shop, and turn right onto a small residential street, 富錦街. I did finally check out this “i use” place. It’s worth a stroll through. If you head eastbound on the Minquan bridge toward Neihu, turn right at the gas station at the end (as if going to Costco), turn right and right again at the next two intersections (thus looping back to be on the surface road parallel to and south of the bridge) and stop just before the same gas station you’ll be at iuse.
Gorgeous stuff! They have really nice knives, heavy copper-bottomed paella pans by Mauviel for ONLY $14,000 NT or so (that’s right, ONE pan), and KitchenAid mixers for $2-3 thousand more than Costco’s price.
Since I haven’t won a $100 million NT lottery lately, I walked out empty handed.
There is a very nice little baking supply store in Nankang on Academia Road, just south of Zhongxiao E. Road on the righthand side, between Zhongxiao and 85 cafe. It has a sign that says DIY, and English descriptions of what they sell on the window. phone: 2783-4843.
I recently checked out the two ‘recommended’ baking stores on the page 5 list, and DB, I think you should put this one up there. It’s much better than those two. I was quite disappointed by them.

Bu Lai En, thanks for that suggestion; the list is organized geographically, with Taibei city at the top, since more posters presumably live and shop there, and it doesn’t make sense to add a Zhonghe store to the Taibei city section, but I’ve edited the Zhonghe section to clearly note your recommendation.
Also, as an aside, note that the two stores at the top are listed as “frequently referred to by”, not “recommended by” Forumosans in their posts.

Quite a walk from the Xindian district city office but it’s basically down JungHwa road (right by the MRT exit), turn left into Minzu and walk some more…and more…past a school, past Sommelier wines…walk more…walk…pray it doesn’t rain. And then you have the store on your left. They close at 8 at night.

…which is why we always go to the ones in Dihua Street/Minshen road, actually, the one in Mingle Street is our favorite as it is very reliable and cheap. It is close to the Daqiaotou MRT, just follow the crowds to Dihua Street.
