Emirates - A380 from May 1

Emirates are upgrading the daily flight from a B773ER to a A380 from May 1, 2016 according to their website.

“Emirates will up-gauge its service to a two-class A380 service, representing a 44 per cent increase in capacity. Emirates flight EK366 will depart Dubai at 04:35hrs and arrive in Taipei at 16:50hrs the same day. The return flight EK367 will leave Taipei at 23:30hrs, arriving in Dubai at 05:05hrs the next day. Taipei Taoyuan International Airport recently completed enhancements making it compatible with the double-decker aircraft.”

No more sardine Economy 3-4-3 fit in the 773 - yes the 380 has 3-4-3 but the cabin is wider. 6.58 vs 5.86m.

There are cheaper tickets available on other airlines, however it might be worth it to fly on the A380. Are there any other airlines flying to Europe from Taiwan using an A380?

None FAIK. Would be fun to try out the 380. They say its smooth and quieter then 747.

Lots of new planes to try for me too. 380, 787, 350 , I’ve not even flown on the 330.

But I hate flying so there.

Even with a transit in Hong Kong, flying with Etihad to Europe still offers better value:

NT$12,000 cheaper than Emirates in economy to Europe (EY 21500 vs EK 34000 - June, TPE to MXP)
A333 cabin has couple-friendly 2-4-2 seating
With only 8 seats per row the A333 on a per passenger basis is actually more spacious than the 777 or A380
Unlike Emirates, Etihad arrives at its Eurpoean destinations early in the morning.
Shorter transit times at AUH versus DXB.

I like Emirates and Etihad - have flown with them several times because they had cheap tickets, look out for the special offers. Quite impressed with the service. DXB is a bit shit though.

Emirates haven’t been decent value from here or HKG back to Europe since 2012.
Nice product, mind, apart from the change-over at Dubai with a dreadful “apron bus to terminal” set-up.

The 2 class A380 has a great upper deck economy with couple seating and a side storage bin. It’s very spacious. As mentioned, the 10 across on the 777 is a disgrace. Boeing designed it as a 3-3-3

Prices to Europe seems very attractive:

Especially business class. I think this is the offer I had seen before.

Just arrived on a380. If a380 fly on my route I book it, always. Spacious, super quiet easy to sleep. Dubai to Taipei it was new aircraft with wider screens in economy. Price is good. Maybe only $30-50 more than other airlines on routes to Europe. But comfort is unmatched. Bit longer flights as you must transfer in Dubai.
