Go

I know nothing much about Go but I saw that the mainland was attempting to ban its broadcasters from showing the game live.

Some journalist somewhere was pointing out the interesting contradiction: while the PRC government is officially talking up the potential of AI at the moment and demanding China becomes successful in this field, it’s still a sore spot if the best Chinese player of this game is potentially getting beaten by an AI program, let alone a Google one.

All his pre-game trash talking looks kind of ridiculous as well: behaving like a mean-spirited [insert word here] towards a human opponent before a game may annoy them and force mistakes, but this strategy - in as much as it is a strategy - has no practical up-side at all for trying to defeat an AI opponent!

The PRC is more of a “do or do not, there is no try” kind of government.

And yes, they banned the live stream.
