I am looking for a good modern mandarin grammar book (in english).
I have to say I learned chinese with a german grammar book at the university for one year, after that I just studied the language by picking up a little bit here and there. I am making good progress, yet sometimes I want to look up some more details on the tricky parts of the language.
Since I am well-trained with other languages (learned sanskrit, pali, tibetan) and very much into academic study of languages, I am looking for an advanced reference book. Like for the classical chinese language, we have the 800 pages ‘Chinesische Grammatik’ by Georg von der Gabelentz in german language, which I really worship. But I am missing something comparable for the modern language and wonder if anybody here has an idea.
