Help! Suggest good slogans for the 3-26 March

In that spirit…

Tie one on,
don’t
Off Taiwan

or

CHINESE

Socialism,
Oriental
Despotism
Offend
Me!
Independence
Sounds
Excellent,

TAIWAN!-----------------

Here’s an idea. Why not have some Taiwanese recording artists record “Give peace a chance” in Mandarin. American artists did it before The Great Bush-Hussein family feud episode 1. :bravo:

Those who stand idly by as Taiwan gets oppressed are the oppresors

And what a deterrent it was!

Wo-men jiu shi shuo, gei anping yige jihui . . . .

Not so catchy as the original

“There’s a BULL in the China Shop”

And it’s one, two, three
What’re we fighting for?
Don’t ask me, I don’t give a damn
Next stop is Yangmingshan

And it’s five, six, seven
Open up the Pearly Gates
Ain’t got no time to wonder wny
Whoopee! We’re all gonna die

peace with not piece of

NO2CN
we vote for peace
no honey no money
nrl go to hell

The people who asked me for the slogans are happy with what we have come up with so far and may actually use them. Keep you fingers crossed. And also keep an eye out here for more info about where to join other international residents in the march. I’m trying to keep that information on the Mar. 26 thread.

Your blunderbuss law will backfire into your breeches, you clueless commie clods!

Bu Hu! The world cries no to your law for war!

Make that one big and clear enough, it’ll definitely get TV time, I’m thinking.

“I for one welcome our new Chinese overlords”

At least we’d get on Fark with that one.

WWBD?

what would buddha do?

(er, just a joke on christian born agains…)

I would prefer: “Better Dead than Red”.

Anybody have that quote from Chairman Mao handy, where he says that the Taiwanese will be allowed to decide for themselves whether to join the PRC? Is it pithy enough to put on a sign?

My favorites so far:
David – Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein China?

Screaming Jesus

If you want the media to focus, better make it one of the non-sweary, snappy ones.

Oh, and I’ll probably be in on the Tai-da group.
My favorites so far:
David – Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein China?
Yes, I agree, that one’s really good.
My own2bitch:

Foreigners for Peace & Democracy!
Better not use the word “foreigners” in any of your slogans. The global audience you want to speak to do not see themselves as foreigners, and may even be slightly offended by such a reference. Better substitute “the world” or “the international community”.

Here are some more suggestions:

China, please, curb your aggression and leave the neighbors in peace!

For Heaven’s sake, China, leave Taiwan in peace!

No to your war law, China! Leave Taiwan in peace!

Remember, China, that bullies always get their comeuppance.

Dressing aggression in the garb of law does not make it any less naked.

Drop the war law, China! Aggression can never be legitimized.

No to China’s Warlawdism! [The “law” part should be in a different colour from the rest, to strike home the pun.]

Abrogate the war law, China! Let peace prevail in the Taiwan Strait!

Back off, China, the world condemns your threats of aggression!

Hitler…; Hirohito…; Hussein…; Hu’s next?

Hu’s sowing the seeds of war? It sure as hell isn’t Taiwan!

Now the world can clearly see Hu’s sowing the seeds of war.

Nice, but most of them are too long. It has to fit on a sign or banner, and be big enough to read at a distance.

OK, try these, all shorter, sans sweary, sans foreigner:

Friends of Taiwan, Unite!

[A PRC flag with a swastika superimposed, or with a swastika plus question mark]

“Hey UN,
Show some SPINE!”

[a totally hippie banner with flowers, peace symbols and Make Love Not War]

"Where are EU

I think we need to not focus on the EU thing. It’s not immediately relevant to the march. It dilutes the overall effect. Also, most of the direct Hitler comparisons would attract little more than mockery. The Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein China is probably the best of those ones. The “Thank You US Congress” one… a bit hard to grasp without explanation. And ironically I quite like a twist of cmdjing’s one - “I for one welcome our new Communist dictators” or similar - anyone who spots the Simpsons reference (or just has a good eye for sarcasm) will appreciate that one.
