If uncensored hardcore porn isn't legal in Taiwan, how do so many people have access to it?

if uncensored hardcore porn isn’t legal in Taiwan, how do so
many people have access to it?

are they not blocked by the Taiwanese ISPs?

The reason I’m asking is that my local ISP(which is also the
cable TV company) blocks hardcore porn on the internet
and cable TV. I can’t even subscribe to the hardcore
channels. Apparently my county/state legislature passed
laws preventing the cable company from selling it. Satellite
TV companies(Dish and DirecTV) also cannot sell me those
channels, unless I use someone else’s address in a neighboring
state.

I’m pretty sure that’s not legal if you’re in the US.

Who said porn is illegal in Taiwan?

Since it is illegal here, the government doesn’t extend copyright protections to porn. Therefore it isn’t illegal to pirate it, which is how people have access to them.
As weird as that spunds…

porn is illegal is Taiwan?

I know it’s not what you’re asking for, but I suggest you change your taste in porn. Go for the soft core version.

In the old days, people used to “make do” with JCPenny catalogues, Archie comic books; or if you want to go even further back, Poor Richard’s Almanack.

Do you get arroused by any of the following things?
Stiff/awkward underwear models?
Betty and Veronica? . . . Jughead?
Ben Franklin? :ohreally:

I am not here to judge you. I just want to saved you a little money.

Some people look at photographs of ladies with no shirts on. Can you imagine? :astonished:

Since when is it illegal? The Taiwanese courts don’t consider porn “art”, therefore declare it uncopyrightable. There was a case a year or two ago where Japanese porn companies tried to sue Taiwanese who were downloading their products, but the court rejected the claims using the reason just stated.

While today, we have My Little Pony clopfic.

Not if your ISP is operate by the local county government. To get
around the legal hurdle, they only block it by default when you sign
up for service. You have to submit a written release for them to
unblock it. It’s free, but you do have to pay $5 to have a notary
public notarize the release form. At first, I was kind of embarrassed
to take the form to the local UPS Store and get their notary public
to notarize the for for me. I found another notary public 20 minutes
away. While he was notarizing the release form, I could tell that he
was thinking “oh, another one of those perverts who want to view
hardcore porn on the internet…” Like I said, it only applies to
hardcore adult websites and videos in the internet.

This still sounds unconstitutional to me…

Some primo Steptoe there, finley.

Are you serious? That sounds insane. As a privacy and freedom advocate, I have never heard of this in the states and am rather skeptical of your claims. Are you sure you’re not in the UK? Cameron passed the opt-in porn law there “for the children”. I doubt freedom (and porn) loving Americans would allow anything similar to pass.

It’s totally shit in the UK. My sister was fcking hilarious, making a call to both Virgin’s and Vodaphone’s call centres.

‘Ah yes, young sir. I’m here trying to access lesbiandonkeyfuckers.co.uk and I get this message … Yeah, I clicked that but I’m covered in Marmite, here. Can you hook me up, mate?’

They are featuring a Japanese porn star on their “limited-edition charity series” EasyCards… Pretty sure they’re ok with pr0n here.

Well, they’re already calling for the chairman to step down over the EasyCard uproar. The hypocrisy is quite entertaining. The cartoon girls with their boobies hanging out and the soft porn on the counters of 7 11 are fine, but the porn actress pic has offended everyone’s sensibilities. Case in point, there’s a huge cartoon girl poster in one of the MRT stations on the Orange Line, I think it’s ZhongXiao XinSheng station (let’s see who posts the pic first!). The cartoon girl has her ass sticking up, and is sucking a lollipop type thing which looks very suggestive.

It’s illegal to make them here, and I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to sell them. Whether or not the law is enforced is besides the point. A thing doesn’t have to be art to be copyrighted. The Japanese porn industry was asking to be defined as art so that it would not be considered illegal and thus can be copyrighted.

They already have had a line of anime characters -girls with the unnatural proportions, and one guy! not so unnatural proportions- as EasyCards.

As I said before, my beef s the lyieng: the hypocrisy is bad, plus how much are they getting for this. As I also said, if you have a celebrity say, baseball players, you are selling tickets, if you have a celebrity posing with tea or beer or whatever, you are selling tea or beer -on Easy Cards. So, if you are putting the pretty girl’s copy paste image from the latest DVD production you are selling _____ (fill in the blank).

The Chairman angrily sent everyone to hell and told them in few words that he could do as he pleases as it was his decision. What worries me is that they organize a brainstorming session and this is the best they can come up with?! A copy paste image of third level Japanese pr0n celebrity? Gimme a break, that is way too lazy. I can imagine one of the guys too sleepy during the boring meeting, looking down his crotch… to his cellphone while he was browsing porn in order to get the creative juices going -we had an artist at work that had two windows open in his monitor, one he was drawing children’s illustrations, the other had more adult endeavors for this reason. Anyways, our young hero at the meeting was either caught in the act and came up with the idea/excuse that everyone supported out of let’s get outta here or that is what the boss wants, or just had -and pardon the pun- a stroke of genius.

The 15.000 Easycard sets with the lady sold out in four hours, from midnight to 4.a.m, that would be roughly one set per second. It’s a strange world.

I would like to see how much the resell price is going to be. I bet more than 2000 NTD.
