International Internet Access Query

Moved here from the Travel Forum

Hey there. I’m considering coming to explore Taiwan probably for about the span of a 90 tourist visa - based in Taipei for the majority.

My work is based online and I was planning on continuing to work for the duration of my travels. As part of my job I have to connect to servers based out of China and other places. Are there any restrictions or prohibitions I should worry about that might make this a problem?

Many thanks.

Internet here is only available Monday to Friday between 6 am and 10 pm. Apart from that you should be fine.

Accessing the mainland shouldn’t be an issue afaik. It’s just accessing Taiwan from the mainland that can sometimes be difficult.

I feel obligated to point out, however, that it sounds like you would be working illegally (by not having a work permit). :oncoming_police_car: You can search for previous threads about the issue.

There’s also the Act Governing Relations between the People of the Taiwan Area and the Mainland Area:
