Is "Taipei Guest House" a Brothel?

Anyway, for the record, Taipei Guest House, as others have chimed in, is not a traditional brothel in the sense of what you’ve seen in The Hangover or any other Hollywood movie. It’s like buying fish from a monger instead of a supermarket. The transaction is completed in a very different way, but you still get your fish.

That said, a foreigner’s worst friend is those "friends’ introducing connections and good deals. Many times too many people end up as the cat that pulled the chestnuts from the embers. The pals are the monkey.

They aren’t my friends, and they had absolutely no interest in that grotty place once they saw it so I have no immediate concern. I was dismayed by the foreigner hanging around at least two schools that I know of, posting the ads and talking to people who are looking at the board. He is not a student, and he has lived here many years. It’s possible he gets some sort of commission if he can find someone desperate enough to stay there. What happens to people that desperate after they move in… I may never know, and that would be fine by me. I was curious, though, as to the actual scam and the level of sinister intent of this ‘kind-looking gentleman’ hanging out at language schools.

And yes, I agree with you about the ‘friends’ introducing good deals! I am new here and I have already come across a few.
