Legalized Prostitution

He’s just upset no one invited him

Well, are they? Is a world with hookers better than a world without?

Big question…

BroonBrothel

Without them, you’d never get laid.

My wife says I don’t know how to use a watch. You see she bought a new one for me a while ago and while she had it it seemed to work fine. When she gave it to me it lost about twenty minutes a day. I gave it back to her and it worked fine again. “You don’t know how to use it” was her explanation. It seemed fairly straight forward to her apparently. Is this part of the whole “inscrutable oriental mind” thing or what?

 bob’s penchant for posting his literary gems wherever he wants in total disregard for form or protocol is truly admirable…

Everywhere has always had’em and everywhere always will. It’s been hardwired into our biological programming since we’ve been evolving - women want access to the material resources that men monopolize to maintain masculine power and men want access to the sexual resources that women monopolize to maintain feminine power. So trade for mutual benefit occurs naturally.

You want to change the order of things, make sure that:

a) women have as much money and social status and political/business power as men
b) as a consequence women give up the notion of necessarily attaching sex to money/advantage (“marrying up” and otherwise manipulating men through the power of sex) and start learning to enjoy sex for sex’s sake, the way it’s meant to be

Both A and B are slowly advancing in the West, hence the low level of prostitution back home. The first time I ever even saw a prostitute, much less was propositioned by one, was when I came to Taiwan. In most of America, you have to seriously hunt high and low in the grottiest parts of the city to find a hooker, unless you live in Nevada. We don’t need prostitutes because most single Western girls are willing to put out; it’s not hard to get laid in America or Europe even if you don’t have money. Taiwanese boys need hookers because if you’re an average Taiwanese guy with no money, it’s a lot harder to get laid (I’m not talking about us exotic waiguorens). Any society with widespread premarital sex taboos is going to be forced to tolerate prostitution. That’s why 100 years ago in the West prostitutes were everywhere, from every street corner of London to the saloons of the Wild West - Victorian morality caused prostitution. When women have more sexual freedom, there’s no need for it, and it dies out, though it never entirely goes away (fat guys, ugly guys, old guys, guys with no social skills, they need to get laid, too).

I find East and West have prositution everywhere.

In the USA, there the yellow pages for escorts, and the internet for escort listing by state, city, and area code.

In Taiwan, it’s the barber shop, the spa, or some silly girl that dreams of becoming a rich man’s mistress.

And in mainland China it’s the tienhsiang.

Oh, bullshit. Not nearly on the same level. For every 1 prostitute in America, there are 100 in Taiwan/China/Japan/Thailand. Let’s get real here. I never ONCE saw a hooker in America for over two decades of living there. I step off the plane into Taiwan, and suddenly I’m surrounded by brothels.

mod lang,

Perhaps it because I grew up in New York and Taipei. So “working women” are just part of the backdrop in my opinion.

I believe in the USA, they are just a little more discreet about advertising due to stricter policing. But a quick internet search will point you to brothels in the USA as well.

But here a site www.worldsexguide.org they list it by country where active “hobbist” post their experiences worldwide.

Or this database www.theeroticreivew.com where “hobbist” post their experiences about “providers” in the USA and some in UK. The database is searchable on all attributes “hobbist” find important about their provider.

My theory is that in asia since policing is not as strict and other cultural differences, “providers” are more bold in traditional marketing methods.

hmm… it depends upon what kind of prostitute we are talking about… are we saying, high class? someone who actually looks good and has, dare i say it, all of her teeth? if so, then yes.

if we are talking about the women who wear pieces of silly string as clothing and have no teeth, then, well, i would have to say yes as well. if there was no prostitution, they might not have a job and provide a much needed service to men who, if they did not get laid, would probably have all this pent up anger/energy and go on a killing rampage.

hmm… maybe george w. could use a hooker. preferably one with no teeth and an x-large fupa. rowr.

Yes burning sensation in the crotch is definitely bad.

You can never force anyone to do anything they don’t like, so if we know this why do we still have the conversations like this. Why-because, in my world, I believe people have yet to get the impact of personal power, having it and using it. It kills me that feminists in America, possibly other places, want to have abortion legal because “we have a right to decide for our bodies” yet when it comes to prostitution all hell breaks lose. 1) if a man is going to cheat, he’s going to cheat. 2)If a person wants ‘use’ themselves giving others pleasure and make money doing it, why the hell not. Beats working your ass off for da man, only to "f&*ked"when he gets another million dollar bonus while improving his golf game and you get a pink slip after puttin in 25+ years in the company.

When you can’t have it, you want it more. So, again, the government shoots itself in the foot. :loco:

The only argument I see worth a second looking is the claim that women are sold or forced into prostitution. It is certainly a case of economic exploitation but I’m unconvinced by these claims of sex slavery. A little trip into Wanchai here in HK reveals oodles of freelancing lasses seemingly quite happy with their dalliances with the world’s oldest occupation.

A nip over the border, actually the Temple Street nightmarket will do, reveals much the same. However, the one’s that aren’t completely happy with their choice which for the most part means a quick burst of funds, are those that (and really, I’m just interested in chatting with 'em) reveal a similar tale of an arsehole hubby getting the boot but then not paying his way.

Perhaps the fairest deal would be to balance the legalisation of prostitution with a reform of the divorce laws so that hubby paid what he oughta for the ex and sprogs.

It is the world’s oldest profession. People have been declaring it illegal since just about the time we were crawling out of the primordial slime. Seems like an awful waste of resources to rail against something that is going to happen no matter how long and loud you squall. I think the money spent on raiding brothels would be better spent, errr, enforcing the “Red Light Means Stop” law  .

I used to think that prostitution should be legalised, but actually that’d only make the situation worse for the women. It’d be better to apply the Swedish system, aka making it illegal for purchasers, but not the sex workers.
