MOD (Media On Demand)

Fox Sports 2 isn’t on MOD – it’s on cable.

Thanks. It’s odd that it was showing as F1 was on LIVE but not was being showed.

That kind of thing has happened to me a couple of times in the past with Fox sports – maybe a mixup or a schedule change that wasn’t caught.

Has anyone tried connecting their mod box behind there own router instead of directly into the cht modem/router?

Don’t do that, it won’t work. But you can certainly plug your own router into the modem (next to MOD) and then use it for wifi and such.

Amazingly Eurosports Live (ch.180) has ‘De Ronde Van Vlaanderen’ (Tour de Flandres) a Belgian cycling classic live, right now!

I’d rather watch your avatar.

They show that every year – along with many other cycling classics – both major and minor – it was one of the things that I liked best about that channel. Unfortunately, it went from being free the last couple of years, to paid this year. So now, I watch a stream instead.

I did for a while. It worked OK  Or was that a standard hub? Yeah, hub than router. I got the TV out of the bedroom and back to the Modem so I kind of forget.
But now… SUNFAR has an MOD certified router or two to choose from. At least they market it as being comparable.

I’ve mine behind the CHT router, after going through a switch together with my computer, works well.

What happened to the new Channels. I flipped on the box one day and found a lot of new Channels, like CBS, CNNI and a few other good entertainment channels. I watched them on and off for a while and now they are gone. Did they get bumped out of my package or was that just a trial.

I actually once had the best package on MOD (minus the porn) but now, there seems to be a lot of new channels that are not included. I’d really like these other channels but frankly. My TV is only stuck on three or four channels: Nick, Fox family Movies, Fox News and sometimes BBC.

Still available here.

Food Network just arrived on MOD, plus four other Chinese channels. Mostly business news.

Over 2/3rds of the channels are now HD, handily beating all other HD providers in Taiwan. MOD is getting pretty good.

Where did the Australian Channel go? Not that I ever watched it much. It’s just that a student is going for a working holiday there and was nervous about the accent. So, it looks like there is more call for German, French, Korean and Vietnamese.

The Abbot government stopped funding for the Australia Network, so unfortunately it went off air. If your student wants to hear Australian accents, there are plenty of Australian journalists and hosts working for CNN, Bloomberg, etc., especially if you tune into their Asian bureaus. Also try http://www.abc.net.au

Too bad. I was hoping the student would watch some entertainment shows. I think there was a show about a woman police officer who had some special power. I forgot. I thing she whispered to dogs or something.

BTW, I accidentally stumbled upon a feature that works with some Taiwan Channels. You can pause the show and even go back to the beginning. It only works on some channels. No extra money.

I know it’s not an educational channel, but I’ve learned something from comedy central’s coming to Asia: Singaporeans are not funny. :astonished:

About half a dozen channels have the video catchup system: mostly stuff you won’t want to watch, but there are two in English: History Channel HD, and France TV news in English.

Yeah, that catch up system is pretty great. I stumbled upon it by pushing the pause button accidentally. I know you can go back at least one day. My kids are really into some Korean show about an Alien that was stuck on earth for more than a thousand years, if they are explaining it correctly. Not bad.

Also found a neat trick. You can watch the History Channel and some other channels for free, if you don’t mind a little preview box. It seems the channels let you see what’s happening live on them, but when you choose to select one, you are given the option to subscribe.

Also one quick question. The option to buy the PVR is either 99 dollars a month or 49 dollars a month. The lady at the office seems to indicate that I qualify for the 49 dollars a month but I’m not sure the difference. Can someone read the onscreen notice for me describing the service? To me she is saying You blah blah blah 49 because blah blah blah, 99 blah blah blah. Thanks.
