Online Taiwan Maps

I can’t remember where I heard about this (wasn’t here), but it proves to be very useful.

www.taiwan-map.com (note: I didn’t capitilize that T)

It’s a street map of Taibei (Taiwan maybe?) that can be searched by addresses, lanmarks (mrt stops, coffe house, etc.) and stuff (STUFF!)

It’s pretty good (I love maps), but not as much detail in some parts as I would like, and some bits are wrong (missing and extra lanes and small roads, or lanes meeting int he wrong places).

The part with maps of the place I live was a bit inaccurate, buy you should be able to find your way anyway.

My house just moved to the other side of the road …

The spellings are all over the map. 1st generation tongyong mixed with second generation tongyong, hanyu, wade-giles and all within Taipei, which uses Hanyu almost exclusively as a matter of course.

The Chinese version is useful, but only if you can read Chinese, of course.

Hey,

Can anyone post a link to a very good (detailed and free) street map of Taipei? - preferably in English.

Thanks alot!!!

I wouldn’t say they’re very good, but try these:

phys.ntu.edu.tw/string/Taipei-map.html

travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-5 … f_taipei-i

Run a search, we posted lot’s of links in some thread before!

http://www.taiwan-map.com can not compare to mapquest in the US, but better than nothing.

edit: http://www.maporama.com/share/

If you don’t need a digital one, the kiosks at the MRT stations have excellent maps of the city. The streets are labled in Chinese or English, depending on which verion you pick up, and marked on them are malls, MRT lines, tourist attractions, bike paths and more. The map is not overcrowded or anything. Also, it is free.

Can some kind soul give me a link to a good online map of taipei and suburbs? alternatively give me directions to ZhouZi Street in Nei hu (guangzhou de zhou, erzi de zi)

cheers da bear

(oh and in the next hour please!)

tell me about it…i’ve googled this and keep getting a load of shit maps and no real deatiled street maps

That street is on the Taipei MRT Tourist Map. According to the map, it runs west-east parallell to Neihu Rd, between Neihu Rd and Ruigang Rd, and after Gangqian Rd turns south…

Sorry, I’m a pain in giving directions. Pick up one of MRT maps…

Here you go

well done you two; got it nailed now. i tried and failed with that map; kept zooming in on the wrong part. plus the search function is useless since how would anyone know their bizarre spelling system?! (zhon-z)

Usually Pinyin or WG does the job, but that was just weird.

I use http://maps.yam.com/ but I don’t think they have it in English.

I find that these maps are not very accurate for area outside major towns.

I like this one: http://www.telemap.com.tw
