  • $3000 a month at or near my place (or add $500 a month travel fee — $3500 a month)

  • one hour a week, four lessons a month (some months will have five — an extra freebie lesson)

I am Jeff, an American, and have taught American and Taiwanese piano students, children and adults, for 15 years. I can speak English or Chinese, so I can help students improve their English. Many teachers merely teach students songs, which they memorize or copy from the teacher, but I prefer that students learn how to read notes proficiently so they become independent of teacher. Though I believe classical music is the best way to accomplish this, I also encourage students to learn jazz or pop styles as well. I come from a long line of teachers that go back to Beethoven and other famous pianists (Czerny, Leschetizky, Artur Schnabel). I can also teach trumpet or other instruments. Just watched the 9 yr old playing the Bach prelude in C maj, very nice indeed, very good feeling and touch- not just playing notes.

My advanced student (who played Rachmaninoff in high school in the previous post) is now in college and has recently practiced Heaven by Dino Kartsonakis for a performance at his church.

It starts out mellow but then starts building up around 3 minutes.

Thanks for your comment. Yes, I endeavor to polish the touch on the piano at the very first so they don’t sound like children playing…even when they are.

Try a morning session before work.

For toddlers with short attention spans,
we can try shorter sessions
for 30 min ($1500 a month)
or 45 min ($2000)
and work our way to 60 min at or near my place.
(Or add $500 travel fee to go out – $2000, $2500 a month respectively).
