Question about the new site

I must consult both a geomancer and an astrologer first to know the correct time to click the button and which answer to click. In the mean time, is there a “Mark all read” button somewhere? I found something under the new tab which seemed to do the trick. Is that the one?

I clicked on the hamburger menu above and saw the NEW link. At the bottom right corner of my NEW list was a DISMISS ALL button. I guess that is comparable to the “Mark all read” button in phpBB.

It’s nice that you can then quickly link to your Preferences so you can change your definition of what is NEW for you. The default setting is 2 days.

I think the new site looks super cool!

The site seems bare bones and not easy to navigate. I hope it can be made to look more solid and fleshed out… kind of like the previous site, or the OTHER site.

There seems to be two more problems. I made a post last night in reply to dasaint, but it’s gone this morning. Also, ranlee’s post above (#16, I believe) shows up as yellow for me, whereas all the others’ are white.

We will need to investigate the first problem you describe - any details you can share about the post will help: like which post of dasaint? There should be a moderator log somewhere

The yellow highlight of ranlee’s post was me (again). It’s a function called Staff Color - moderators can highlight posts this way. Cool, huh?

I just lit your post up :sunglasses:

I have no plans to roll back to phpBB – God help me.

Let’s give this new format a chance. It was designed specifically for mobile and seems to fulfill that perspective really well. And the desktop version is equally well thought out.

Plus the plugins for Discourse I am slowly becoming aware of are stable - making my memories of modifying phpBB nightmarish by comparison

I found your post and undeleted it. Geez, that was me, too, who deleted it – I’m sorry about that. And that was inadvertent.

In my perspective of Discourse, there was a “hidden” post below ranlee’s and there was a small trashcan at the bottom of the post with my face next to it (indicating I was the yahoo who removed/hid/deleted the post)

I believe I wanted to highlight it instead - or do something else to your post. Oops!

I went into a couple of subcategories I’m interested in and changed the circle to the blue exclamation mark (Watching). However, that still doesn’t seem to give me what I want. As it stands, all I really get is a Facebook-like feed of absolutely every new topic/post.

How about “Tracking”

Tracked

You will automatically track all topics in these categories. A count of new posts will appear next to the topic.

Hmmm doesn’t work for the Categories themselves I guess.

Ok, got it. Thanks!

Your new avvie is wicked cool, lady :sunglasses:

How do you reply with quote?

How do you reply with a quote?

Or simply begin your paragraph with a GREATER THAN SIGN “>”

The show/hide Replies on the original post is pretty cool, the reply also shows up in the thread in the order in which it was posted too, yes?

Thank you for pointing that out. I had not noticed how that worked. I thought it was just as a Show/Hide in the Reply, but I see now that it also includes from the original post that the Reply directly addresses

I also like that the Printer View is pretty clean. No need to specify Printer View, just print and the online formatting is removed

Thanks lol. It was Gwyneth Paltrow at her best, and I love that movie.

I’m a guy though.

I just got 3 new notifications from categories I’m not even watching or tracking, nor have I ever participated in those discussions.

I am sure it wasn’t me this time!

Which categories were they (that you got unwanted notifications for)?
