Just curious, in these scenarios, do they take your passport or flag immigration so you can’t leave? If you did say, ‘sod it, I am leaving Taiwan’, is there cut off period where the prosecution has expired?
Extinctive prescription (statue of limitations) exists here. The duration varies depending on the claim, as explained in the Civil Code and the Criminal Code.
Taiwanese can evade prosecution by absconding, at least in some cases, so I suppose foreigners can too.
