Sued by neighbour. Need a lawyer

guys,

earlier this year I had an argument with a neighbor. Long story short, he is suing me and court hearing is in less than two weeks. I feel the heat and need a lawyer to assist and help me. Is there a place in Taipei where I can find information? elsewhere on this forum I found this:

Re: Taipei offers free legal services across the city

Legal consultation service in Taipei City Hall:
Mon-Fri 9-12 and 14-17 hour
Address: 1st floor, Taipei City Hall 臺北市市府路1號1樓
Phone registration: 02-27256168
On-site registration: start 8:30 and 12:30

does it still exists?
any help welcome

What is the charge? It will help if we know more.

You can always try Eiger Law if you need someone who speaks English.

Just curious, in these scenarios, do they take your passport or flag immigration so you can’t leave? If you did say, ‘sod it, I am leaving Taiwan’, is there cut off period where the prosecution has expired?

Extinctive prescription (statue of limitations) exists here. The duration varies depending on the claim, as explained in the Civil Code and the Criminal Code.

Taiwanese can evade prosecution by absconding, at least in some cases, so I suppose foreigners can too. :unamused:
