Took a little hunting and squinting at titles but I found out what I was looking for. Looks like the two theaters are showing almost exactly the same movies anyway. Nothing good now but some excellent movies coming up.

We have been using the ATM page with some success. While most of the theaters play the same movies (dont really know why…) they often have different pricing scheme. If you click on each of these theater’s name, you will get into a page giving out more info. Next to the address is a link to a yahoo map.

new theatre at taipei bus station - cinemark.
It’s listed in the papers as Vieshow (QS). It’s a nice theater.
I think that there is a new IMAX theater in the south of Taiwan somewhere, but I’m not sure where.
I want to go see a movie called Melancholia which the Taipei Times lists as showing at ‘Wonderland’. Never heard of it. Can anyone enlighten me as to where it is this ‘Wonderland’ is.

Not Wonderland, but Wonderful Theater. It’s the former Majestic Theater (the building right in front of you if you come out of Ximen MRT exit 6). One of the few remaining art houses in Taipei.

Here’s a good link to Taiwan movie theaters which includes what’s current at both Wonderful and the Ambassador. Btw, Icon, if you’re lucky at the Ambassador the movie will be playing in that small theater with only 4/5 rows of seats. You know it? It might sound bad, but its actually excellent.
That Wonderful’s a bit of an experience - old musty spelling theater with a very low ceiling and a bit too narrow squeezed rectangle of a screen. Not a first choice, I have to say. Easy to find, though - come out exit 6 Ximen and its more or less straight ahead on your left.

I think that it’s the only directory that includes the ‘second run’ houses.
Do we need to update the directory for 2022? I know a quick google search will give me the list, but would be better if Taiwan residents give a first hand experience about it.
Eslite art house cinema in B1 at Eslite Songyan is excellent. A wide selection of art house films, both very new and old, international and TW.
I love Huashan. Mostly art, international, film festivals, etc.
Nice little shops for beers or wine or snacks or a good meal.
