This cannot be accurate. Most Americans don’t even know where or what Taiwan is.

Well, not a very in depth poll. They called a thousand people and asked them which countries they like from a list of 21.
The countries we beat out:
Israel
The Philippines
Mexico
Egypt
Cuba
China
Saudi Arabia
Russia
The Palestinian Authority
Iraq
Afghanistan
Syria
Iran
North Korea
And lost to:
Canada
Great Britain
Japan
Germany
India

I think Taiwan’s high rating is from all of those people who say “Oh, I love Thai food!”

I wonder what the purpose of the survey was. It seems like a rather odd list of countries. Only two from Europe? And with all those bad actors on the list, any reasonably normal country (wait, I thought Taiwan wasn’t a country…hmm, maybe survey was sponsored by ROC gov’t) is bound to rank relatively high. The Thai confusion is definitely a factor in Taiwan’s rating, plus the fact that people aren’t exposed to a lot of negative news about Taiwan, or much news at all really.
They probably did this in some heavily Taiwanese neighbourhood near Los Angeles or Dallas.
Most of them thought they were talking about Thailand 
And Taiwan lost to …India?? yes very first world nation that one is isn’t it?
The Indian IT guy in charge of the server probably tampered with the results.
