Her mistake wasn’t helping the dude. Her mistake was giving a shit what a bunch of sad, anonymous basement-dwellers were saying about her. She should’ve ignored it or laughed it off, confident in the fact she just helped save a life while they just suck at life.

The big problem with having an internet community is that quite literally everyone gets a voice. Political leaders, professors, deadbeats, mentally insane, etc. Quite literally all that is needed is an internet connection. Far too often we give those who shouldn’t be given any attention equal or more than those who should seriously be listened to.
