The Blame Game: What caused the 2016 US election result?

Me, I’d spread the blame around pretty liberally. So let’s start with the liberals:

The fact that 50% of the population is of below average intelligence.

Clinton won the popular vote, so you’re absolutely right.

Born to be scapegoated. What a tool.

“You gotta blame someone for your own confusion”

If you think this song is about them, it might be about you.

Actually, this is more about why he won the primary, but that’s an indirect cause of the election result, so…

Screw the RNC. Bunch of jackasses.

Democratic national committee is corrupt. They conspired to put corrupt Hillary up instead of Sanders from the beginning. This alienated young Sanders supporters and some black voters. In a Sanders versus Trump election, I think Trump would likely lose.

It doesn’t matter how stupid you are if the competition is stupider. That’s the lesson of Trump.

Damn, man!

The irony that they could have rolled right over the top, but their own corrupt hubris did them in is spectacular. They almost had it. If they’d won this election, they could have changed the country enough into Northern Brazil that their permanent grip on power would have been complete.

Anyway, I am of the opinion that this has been decades in the making and will likely take an enormous amount of undoing. I don’t think that anyone is out of the woods yet.

No blame needed. Hilary failed to draw votes from White women without a college degree, and the polls seem to be unable to gather data from them as well.

I actually don’t think Sanders would have beat Trump in the general election. America isn’t ready to elect an open socialist yet. Give it a few more Democrat administrations and who knows. But at least the millennials wouldn’t have felt betrayed by their own party.

Poor, white women definitely need to be blamed for this; that’s always the way to go. If only they’d been indoctrinated by Cultural Marxist universities. The primary and secondary education systems just aren’t enough.

You’re probably right that Sanders wouldn’t have been elected, but I still think that it might have been closer. Certainly if the Democrats had run someone like Biden they would have got over the line. He’s just like everyone else in D.C., but he projects an image of blue collar, folksy charm.

I suspect there’s a vast reservoir of people in the hinterlands without college degrees that are barely putting food on the table at the moment.
I suspect there’s another large pool thinking they might be next.
I suspect these groups are what put trump WELL over the line.

I also suspect that most of the ‘No blacks no women no Muslims no mexicans’ clubbed together and there’s significant overlap with the top two.
Manybe Trump number crunched it with his team and figured that’s all he had to do…double down on the desperadoes and the ones looking in the rear view mirror.

I think the odds of his administration succeeding are low because of the people he surrounds himself with.

Rudi Giuliani…Newt Gingrich…bitter divisive hasbeens who are NOT popular.

Joe Biden is a blustering idiot with the stain of the vice presidency on him, but I guess that’s better than an unpunished criminal elitist in a lot of voters’ eyes, ha.

Considering what Guiliani did for New York, I think any administration would be lucky to have him.

He is an idiot, but I think that he would have won because everyone who voted for Hillary would have voted for him still and it’s highly likely that he would have retained the Rust Belt for the Democrats. There would have been no Monster Vote.
