The coming right wing takeover, thanks to the left. (The Trump thread we need?)

It’s a habit of left wingers: they viciously attack anyone to the right of them - which means pretty much everyone. But this mostly just deters the moderates. The ones further right just don’t care. They just stand their ground and bide their time until their time comes. Then when leftist policies actually get implemented, and the disastrous result come in, that’s when the right takes over. The left’s narcissism and lack of self awareness lead to self destruction.

It’s how Ronald Reagan got to be president. It’s how Margaret Thatcher got to be prime minister. Reagan couldn’t even win the nomination in 1976. He was a joke. Four years later, he had the last laugh. Right here and now, In France, Germany and the US, right-of-center politicians are rising not despite, but because of the vicious ad hominem attacks of the left, together with the left’s demonstrable incompetence at running things. The center is on its deathbed, because the left has ripped it to pieces. The left is in big trouble, a victim of its own internal contradictions. The center and left are taken out in a murder-suicide and that leaves us with… what?

To be fair, the moderate Republicans were complicit in their own rape. They prostituted themselves to curry favor, and they got what they deserved. Shoulda demanded payment up front. That’s the trouble with moderates. They always overdo the moderation. The moderate Democrats more or less got kicked out of their party. This will probably happen to their Republican counterparts next.

The New York Times may as well endorse Trump, they’re making it so easy for him. A front page editorial for gun grabber hysteria? Why not put a cherry on top?

Well, speaking of Germany that is correct I guess. Merkel, the current chancellor, is conservative by name only and is carrying out a rather extreme open-borders policy leading to an uncontrolled influx of people mostly from the Arabic world, with Africa just getting warmed up. All migrate directly into the German social system, which always has been the dream of the German Left (left-wing and center-Social-Democrats and Greens). Everybody criticizing the immigration policy gets blamed as a Nazi. Consequently even in Germany a right-winged “populist” party is rising. I’ll vote for them!

The right is rising in Europe because of the devaststing affects of austerity of which Germany and Merkel must shoulder much of the blame.

Austerity is obviously right wing policy.

Where’s your hand drawn chart, roland?

Right, left, what’s the difference? The world is run by people who need a team of researchers to tell their ass from a hole in the ground.

You can’t think of a more plausible reason?

Or even several?

I found a Buzzfeed article titled “9 Reasons Europe is Going Down the Drain Because of the Left.” I was so excited to finally understand what is going on but then it turned out to be complete bullshit.

You know the one I am talking about of course. It’s got a graph and everything.

Immigration is one, Islamic terrorism is another- but just as in the Thirties, austerity by conservatives plays into the hands of extreme right-wingers.

Austerity and the overall economic malaise act as a force multiplier on each of those other pressures. When the government has capped spending while simultaneously opening up its checkbook to support refugees, it’s natural for some Germans to want to lash out and punch downward against the people “taking” away their opportunities & funding.

Interestingly, lots of immigrants voted in the new right wing in France.

Roland is right that dissastifaction with the left has caused this, but not because of leftist policies, but because Hollande and co simply caved in to Merkel and the European technocrats in Brussels and did exactly what they were voted not to do.

Cloward-Piven cuts both ways?

Or just more projection?

You can try to explain away what’s happening if that makes you feel better in your underground bunker, but it won’t save you in the end. Some friendly advice: stop trying to shift blame, and start trying to fix what you’re all doing wrong.
But nothing would drain the ugliness from the debate faster than for America’s elected leaders — President Obama, Gov. Cuomo, Mayor de Blasio — to forthrightly acknowledge the nature of the problem. And to promise to do everything in their power consistent with the Constitution to combat it.

That wouldn’t please everybody, but it would go a long way to exorcise the fear that Donald Trump has been feeding on for months.
It would have prevented his ascendancy.

It’s amusing that an article that demands a forthright declaration of the nature of the problem, avoids making any forthright declarations of the nature of the problem.

Uh, the title of the article spells out the nature of the problem quite clearly.
“Choose the form of the Destructor,” says the demon in Ghostbusters. Bill Murray, et al., got the giant Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Our political and media elites, on the other hand, got Donald Trump.

Everyone is aghast at Trump’s latest plan, to suspend all immigration by Muslims. But it’s no coincidence that Trump’s announcement came less than a day after a limp, toneless speech by President Barack Obama on terrorism, one that left Americans feeling much less safe.
No one wants to be the first to fill the void created by religious warfare because no one wants to go down in history as the father of the modern American police state.

Lol. Something else you don’t understand the meaning of.

Keep trying roland. I suggest you stop beating this particular dead horse though. It is never going to get up and walk away with the argument.

In the end it’s probably all going to come down to clever packaging. The new American police state could be labeled Operation American Freedom and its replacement constitution could be labeled The Patriot Bill of Rights and most Americans would never even know what hit them.

I wish I could believe that. That lamentable recent talk from the Oval Office indicates otherwise.
