Still debating about this?!
Taipei, Sept. 12 (CNA) The government is planning to draft a new law that would make the wearing of seatbelts on highway inter-city buses mandatory for all passengers, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) said Tuesday.
The proposed regulation is expected to be finalized by the end of the year, according to Chang Shun-ching (張舜清), deputy director-general of the Department of Railways and Highways (DRH) under the MOTC.
Although new inter-city buses have since July 2007 been required to be equipped with factory-fitted seatbelts, Chang said rules governing the Transportation Management Regulations only stipulate that passengers seated in the first row have to fasten their seatbelts, along with those seated in the row behind the exit door and in the last row’s center seat.
