Is your point that it was some sort of feigned ignorance on the part of the interviewer? I believe the interview took place on the day of Nunes’ revelation, and so the interviewer’s lack of knowledge on Nunes’ press conference would be understandable. I may be wrong about that (and feel free to correct me), but that’s the impression I got when I first read the article and in fact Trump seems to be saying this very thing in the above quote. In contrast, it’s my understanding that Trump was briefed by Nunes before even his press conference.
