damned if you do, damned if you don’t type situation. If she had gone the opposite route, she would appear weak. But seriously, you don’t want to continue to appear weak to bullies, it only serves to embolden and strengthen them.
But then the flip side
As on TV , when the nerd boy decides to stand up to the bully to not appear weak, the bully mops the floor with the nerd.
There’s all sorts of middle ground. Actually, what’s she’s doing is not at an endpoint of the spectrum, but it’s far from the middle.
