US Election 2016

The Revolution will be televised, even if it’s miniscule on either side

Missing the point. The real protests are going on inside.

Jesus, Putin must be licking his chops at the thought of doing the Art of the Deal with Bozo the Clown.

“It’s worse than a crime, it’s a mistake”.

If Trump loses, as is still probable, it won’t be a blow-out. That will leave many Trump supporters embittered at Cruz for this stab in the front, and blaming him for the loss.

They will remember it in 2020. If, as is likely, Rubio wins his Senate seat back, his will have been the cleverest move. Don’t show up (unlike, say, Walker) so you can’t be identified with the loser, but do give enough of a tepid endorsement that nobody can point the finger at you.

Prediction: Hillary wins the general; GOP holds the House; Dems take the Senate by the slimmest of margins, but lose it in 2018. Republicans keep up their total obstruction tactics; Rubio takes it in 2020 as fatigue with the Democrats sets in.

It’s good that the POTUS won’t visit Taiwan any time soon then… Imagine all the psychiatric help they would need.

I remember a time when US politicians talked about issues, their approaches to problems and the direction they wish to take the country. I recently saw a discussion between Bush Sr. and Reagan that was actually civil and polite while focusing on each others differences. A shocking difference from what is heard today.

Today, the Republican party seems to be all about framing, … those who aren’t like us are the enemy, hate, blaming, building walls, lies and a complete lack of discourse of any kind.

It’s not just Trump. I seldom see any discussion of issues online either. Listening to opposing sides is like listening to elementary kids with entrenched positions argue.

I don’t know how Americans handle it.

Thomas Paine once wrote something about the time for debate, and the time for politics by other means. To everything, there is a season.

People are waking up to the fact that there’s nothing left to talk about, and no point in listening to liars. We are entering a nasty phase of history. Nothing fails like failure.

Ted Cruz was, by certain standards, extremely disloyal. But loyalty is dead. He was just trying to give it a proper Viking funeral so we can move on.

Conspiracy theories abound!

As it turns out, the Trumps had Cruz’s speech beforehand, and knew it wasn’t going to endorse Donald. They then instructed the New York delegation to erupt into boos at a certain place in Cruz’s speech
If you love our country, and love our children as much as you do, stand, and speak, and vote your conscience, vote for candidates up and down the ticket who you trust to defend our freedom, and to be faithful to the constitution.

[BOOING ERUPTS]
Booing erupts, but ONLY from the New York delegates.

Cruz, visibly surprised:

Note: theoretically, nobody except the Convention coordinators (the Trump campaign) knows what’s in the speech- for all the New Yorkers know, the next sentence could be a ringing endorsement of Trump.

Chants break out against Cruz’s wife, who has to be escorted out: “Goldman Sachs! Goldman Sachs!” Kind of a bizarre thing to ‘spontaneously’ come to mind.

Trump makes an entrance, the music swells, spotlights turn to him, the lights onstage fade, leaving Cruz standing there in the dimness.

Trump immediately starts tweeting, including about Cruz being almost assaulted and being turned away by Sheldon Adelson.

Would Donald be the kind of guy that would organise this to try to humiliate Cruz that way? You betcha.

The only thing is that he apparently didn’t realise that the spin would be: Republicans split; Ted Cruz honourable martyr to his conscience.

Cruz would prefer to go out in a blaze of glory, since the alternative is to rot.

Speaking of rot…

It’s Kaine!
Feel the Timentum!!!

And more

The Donald is already calling him Korrupt Kaine. That would have worked for anyone she was likely pick, given the circle she travels in. But Democrat ethics problems are very much dog-bites-man.

It’s a drab pick. She didn’t pick a woman to double down on the gender card, and she didn’t exactly pick a man either. Well, a reasonable facsimile thereof. Way to sew up the beta male vote.

Meanwhile, Wasserman is in the doghouse over the latest Wikileaks revelations. Somebody’s got to take the blame for the team.

Funny to watch Jake Tapper at CNN’s State of the Union doing everything possible to get Bernie to attack Hillary over the wikileaks . Bernie wasn’t having any of it, and kept returning to the need to support Clinton to beat Trump.
Tapper also tried to get him to go after Kaine; Bernie came out with solid backing, and told his supporters who weren’t backing Hillary that defeating Trump was by far the most important priority. He also kept pointing out how progressive the platform was, and hoe well he and Hillary had worked together drafting it.

Poor Jake! Really tried his best to push that “Both sides are divided” story the CNN wants to run, but Bernie just kept shooting him down. Far and away the most solid endorsement of Clinton from Bernie to now.

Oh well, maybe they’ll get Chelsea plagiarising Melania’s plagiarism of Michelle.

And yes, DWS should have been fired last year.

I know- unlike the Big Dog or the Trumpster, he doesn’t even cheat on his wife. What kind of man is that?
And he claims to be a Christian, but actually spent time helping poor people. And he speaks one of those faggot furrin languages. As good Republicans would say, if English was good enough for Jesus Christ, it’s good enough for me.

Interesting question- just which pocket does Putin carry Donald’s nuts in?

Indications are he cheats on the voters.

Well, it’s arguably sexist to imply a man shouldn’t accept gifts from suitors.

Do you really think Hillary Clinton is faithful to her marriage vows? She and Bill Clinton haven’t lived together since they left the White House.

And just who really is Chelsea’s father?

Well, she’s out…
