WCIF Toy Store with Transfomers in Taipei

Tried Toys R Us, the shops under and around Taipei Main Station. They didn’t have too much.selection. Is there any kind of shop in Taipei that would sell “Transformers” toys, as in past and current selection?

Have you tried toy model shops? They have Gundam toys which is pretty much the same thing as transformers.

They have transformers in carrefour but they are the new ones. If you find a place with old ones let me know!

I don’t know the difference between past and current selection, but you can find transformers in FunBox.

FunBox has its own stores in CityLink Nangang (Building A right above the MRT/TRA/HSR station) and the Children’s Amusement Park in Shihlin. They also have sections inside the Mitsukoshi Department stores (I’ve been to the the ones in A8 in Xinyi, the Shinguang above Zhongshan MRT) and in Sogo (in the Main SoGo on the north side of Zhongxiao, in the Sogo in Tianmou area across from Wendel’s)

There should be at least a couple stores that carry them in the Gongguan Market Tower (not the one with the Eye of Sauron, I mean the other one)

However, if I were buying them today, I would search online, like on www.ruten.com.tw

Are we talking about Transformers as in, “More than meets the eye”? Or are we talking about Gundam:

G eneration
U nsubdued
N uclear
D rive
A ssault
M odule

Specifically Transformers, “More than meets the eye”.

Thanks I’ll check out funbox.

But I thought you had to be a Taiwanese citizen to buy from Ruten due to not being able to register an ARC ID.

Though I did find this

Q8. explains how to register as a foreigner in Taiwan to buy on Ruten.

Not sure if the Chinese says you can use your bank account as an ID or you must obtain a Uniform ID number from the government, which can be done here.

I wasn’t aware of the extra effort to register on Ruten as a foreigner. Thank you for the tip.

What i do is ask Taiwanese friends to do the purchase for me, but i am careful to use COD at a nearby convenience store as my payment and shipping method. This has only slightly limited my selection so far.

For this stuff, I would shop at the Japanese themed mall in Ximending where NY pizza is on the street level

Have you tried PChome?

Much easier to make a purchase compared to Ruten.

For some reason, I haven’t been able to shop on PCHome. I am obviously doing something wrong. For different kinds of things, I don’t seem to find them there but I find plenty of whatever I need on Ruten. At some point, I just learned to check Ruten first. Also, doesn’t PCHome own Ruten? This was why to my mind, I figured I may as well just shop on one site and not the other.

I’ll try looking for things on PCHome again and report back if I still have the same strange problems.

For PC Home, at least the 24 hour shopping, you need to have a Chinese name and address. You can have the sender use an English Name, but the recipient must use a Chinese Name.

I use iBon at 7-11 to pay for the stuff.

You can navigate 7-11 ibon?!

Thanks for the tip. Went there this weekend. It’s been a while since I’ve gone to Nangang station. That station has really built up a lot of shops and restaurants in the station, both above and below.

Funbox seems to sell current items. I guess I am looking more for something like a collectible store that might sell ones that were released several years ago.

In that case you should Google “Shinjuku Plaza Ximending” - and look for hobbyist blogs who may comment on the Gundam and (maybe) Transformer model kits and toys on the 5F (or 7F?)

I wasn’t aware Shinjuku Plaza sold models or toys. I thought it was the place to go for the latest trend in sneakers?

Not mistaking it for 萬年百貨, right?

hmmm. I might be confusing them. Their lobbies may be attached?

I seem to recall the trendy sneakers to be in a lower floor from the models and hobby shops.

I can’t really say you’re wrong because I’ve never gone past the 3rd floor in Shinjuku Plaza. From what I remember, floors 1-3 are all the trendy sneakers/clothes.

Whereas 萬年 is hobby stores from 3rd floor and up.

Shinjuku plaza only has clothes and shoes. I think there is a hot pot restaurant and hotel from fifth floor up.

萬年百貨 has the model shops but no transformers. Just gundam and figurines.

They are right next to each other, so they easily could be mistaken for being part of the same complex.

Try Yahoo. You do not need ROC ID. Shipping depends on vendor, but most give several options, like postal delivery, messanger service or convenient store.
