16 month diploma + TESOL certificate?

Hey everyone. I read that the laws in Taiwan are that you must have either:

  1. BA degree or
  2. Associates degree + TESOL certificate or
  3. College diploma with TESOL certificate.

Now I’m going into a college soon. It’s the Lethbridge College and I’m going into a culinary arts program which will then issue a 16 month college diploma. I looked into the list which the Taiwan government has here edu.tw/files/site_content/B0003/100.07加拿大名冊.doc

So far Lethbridge College is on the list, however despite that fact I often wondered what would happen if a Taiwan government official looked at my transcripts and saw that it’s a diploma earned after 16 months rather than a full two years. Would it possibly be declined for that reason when it comes to applying for a work permit?

Hi Jonny,
I know this is old, but in case anyone else is wondering, I’m pretty sure that a 16-month diploma is the same as a two-year diploma. Because, in Canada anyway, our college/ university “year” is 8 months long, two “years” is equal to 16 months. I don’t believe it matters whether or not you had a summer off. But, I don’t actually have any sources to back that up. Just thought I’d use some logic… which I’m starting to learn is not always useful here in Taiwan!
