We were just walking on the street and saw a couple walking their dog and 18 month something year old child. The child had a leash on through a backpack and the dog of that couple was sitting in a dog stroller.
Usually it should be the other way around; the dog on the leash and the child in the stroller.
Unfortunately we did not have any camera within reach to take a snapshot.
Maybe.
I remember the first time I pulled out a big red tomato and started to bite like an apple some 30 years ago, my America classmates looked at me like I am some kind of alien.
I suppose one cares more about the physical development of the child than the dog. The benefits in terms of muscular development for your child probably outweighs any discomfort they may have from walking, and the dog is obviously a lightweight/too slow to keep up.
Maybe the dog was tired and the 18 month old needed to get some exercise?
I do find the idea of putting your dogs in strollers silly. Kind of defeats the purpose of taking the dog out for walks if theyre not walking, right?
Maybe they are afraid that the dog gets jealous, because this could turn out to be very unhealthy for the kid.
Edit:
On the other hand, the dog got the wrong idea now.
Edit: sorry need to edit again.
First the dog, then the stroller, the last to come was the baby.
They were practicing with the dog in the stroller before the baby was born.

Well, some dogs are old/lightweights who tire easily. Distances might be just too far for them. And in rainy weather, they still want out… Imagine how bored you’ll be 24 hours in the same surroundings, day by day. At least, being with your master, out on a “walk”, purse or stroller walk, is different.
But both kids and dogs need exercise and to be tired from physical activity.
I do agree on leashes for kids. Actually, the theory is that it sorts of helps them for balance, while keeping them reasonably tethered to the parents. While they train, of course.

My building is on a popular park where a lot of people walk their dogs. The first time I saw dogs in baby strollers I thought, “some people are really different” (to use a nice word). I latter realized the dogs were really old and could no longer walk. I felt sad for the dogs (and owners) but it then made total sense.

Was the dog wearing a diaper?

And it keeps them both from running away … the kid to a red bean cake stand and the dog hunting a rabbit … there are rabbits in Taiwan right?

“Politeness shorts” they are called.
After landing in Prague two weeks ago, my first reaction to people on the streets was: “These baby strollers have babies in them. How odd.”
Paris Hilton started it … ‘The Chihuahua stroller’ … sorry, that was the ‘The Chihuahua handbag’
My dogs love, luv the doggie purse. They know they are going out. they don’t even care if we go to the vet. Out! Out!
I find the stroller rather cumbersome. I think that for babies, the backpack style used in Japan and the Andes is best. But then I am not a human parent!
I think those child leashes look really practical: you could tether your kid to a parked car then nip inside a local establishment for a couple of cheeky pints. Not like those negligent parents who lock their kids inside cars.
Sometimes I see perfectly healthy dogs inside strollers and it is obvious the owner has some mental health problems.
A friend of mine had a doggie harness/sling thing to take the dog rock climbing and abseiling with him. Dog loved it too.
dogs in strollers are to stop their feet getting dirty.
In Taiwan I saw a “baby stroller” that was holding 3 dogs. Actually it looked like was built for dogs as looked a little different as has see through mesh on most areas. One dog was in main top area while two dogs each had their own compartments below.
Were they wearing helmets?
Children on harnesses keep them from getting into trouble and is a good thing.
Putting a dog in a stroller in a nite market is a good thing if they are tiny dogs and likely to get trampled. But generally its dumb. Just take your dog where he/she can walk. Places where they need a stroller just leave them at home.
But people do it cuz they find it cute.

That is actually a very important point. Sometimes dogs attack babies because they felt neglected and the baby took their place.
It is very important to not allow the dog to think that they are now not important. Or they could bite the baby.
Dogs should never be left alone with a baby at any time !
NOt sure cats should be either, as the same thing could happen with a cat.
But here is a case where a cat thought the babysitter was mistreating the baby and came out to attack HER.

Can you call it ‘poochie purse’ too …?
