183 day rule when leaving Taiwan

Hi,

I have been working and filing taxes in Taiwan for more than three years now. I plan to leave Taiwan at the end of April. Does the 183 day rule also apply in this case, meaning will I have to pay 20%? Or does that only apply for the first year?

I’ve read the law and I do not understand. Can someone enlighten me please.

No,
only the first year.

Ski: are you sure? Where did you get this information? I also thought it applied for more than the first year. I’ll be leaving Taiwan in fall and will have to file taxes for 2004 after I leave. I thought I had to make sure to have spent at least 183 in Taiwan to get my taxes back.

On a side note: How are the days counted? If I leave Taiwan on March 12 and reenter March 15, how many days of the 31 March days are deducted?

Thanks
Iris
