2006 Taiwan Youth Travel Year

In a trip to MOFA today, found brochures about this program (in English).

Check out Youth Travel and the Taiwan Youth Guesthouse Network

The latter’s site seems to be busted. Contact them at 886-2-2311-9225, email: hostel@youthguesthouse.org.tw. National Youth Commission runs both these programs.

The site will work in Internet Explorer but not in Firefox!!

This program is still running and it is a great way for people to travel in Taiwan on a budget. Especially check the TR (Taiwan Rail) Pass. It is just NT$1098 for ten days. Although it can only be used on Fuxing and EMU trains (the slower services). Still with one of those you could have a great tour around Taiwan stopping at all the major points of interest on the way. You can also get the TR Pass for free if you stay in one of the Youth Guesthouses for three nights.

I think the program is free to sign up and you got a card that gets discounts at some travel places eat and sleep. They were at the NTNU MTC orientation today.
