2007 Honda Hornet 600

I have heard people have hornets here, but these new ones look sharp as hell. I think when I am ready for a bog boys bike, I will seriously consider buying one. Here are some pics of what it looks like. More info about it can be found here http://www.infomotori.co.uk/a_66_EN_18319_1.html

What’s your thoughts on this bike?

Look for the poster named Dogged. He has a Hornet 900.

This is a 600 not a 900. It’s the newest model and I’m lovin it! It will take me a few years, but one day I’ll buy it.

I’m glad they moved away from the underseat muffler. That is a seriously stupid idea on a street bike.

What a sweet bike. But what were they thinking with that paint job?! Bleurgh, maybe if I was a Taiwanese civil cervant.

Err…I quite like that paint Job, although it might be hard to match a set of leathers and so I wouldn’t choose the colour.

He’s got two, tha bastard!

HG

if you left any old set of leathers in a baby’s crib for a while, it’d end up that colour. bit smelly, though.

Dude, I swear to all that is holy there is a colour chart with the shade ‘Taiwanese Middle Manager Nissan Cefiro Gold’ that someone at Honda accidentally mixed up with ‘Awesome Sporstbike Red’.

I like that color too. It’s the color of a hornet. But I guess if you want to be all stealth you can buy a black one.

Those photos are pretty good in that they quite accurately portray what the bike looks like IRL. Don’t kid yourself that it looks any better in the flesh. Personally, if I were in the market for a midrange naked bike I’d be down at the Suzuki dealer trying to choose between the trusty SV650 or the new 650 Bandit, but whatever floats your boat…

Both Suzuki’s look fantastic, but do you really want to be like everyone else?
Both Suzuki’s look fantastic, but do you really want to be like everyone else?
LOL. Dude, I own a 3-cyl. Triumph. Is that weird enough for you?
I don’t know what your experience is, but in the midrange multi category the sales in Europe would probably put the FZ6, Hornet 600 and 650 Bandit in 1-2-3. That SV650 is popular for very good reasons. The fact that so many people own them should not put you off! Hell, Ducatis are so common in central Europe they don’t get a second glance unless they are a really rare model. Buy what you like to ride, and the hell with everyone else.

Sorry… but I hate the new hornet 6… it’s awful :raspberry: and what’s wrong with the underseat? It looks good. It’s part of the hornet’s style, and it wasn’t just introduced as a style thing to follow the CBR600 or anything…

Personally, I’ve decided to upgrade to the new z1k… it’s beautiful! Now I’ve just gotta wait for the OK~

z1k? Do you have any pics of said bike?

I hope this works~ z1k = z1000 … 2007 model, booyah!

Taiwan only has black with orange seat/wheels… but it looks awesome…

That does look pretty sharp! Quad exhaust too?! What’s the price range on that? A million?

Plasmatron, do you still have a Hornet 600? Naked or S version?
what’s wrong with the underseat? It looks good. It’s part of the hornet’s style, and it wasn’t just introduced as a style thing to follow the CBR600 or anything…
It’s a marketing gimmick. Race bikes have them, therefore any streetbike with sporting pretenses must follow suit. It’s not too bad on a sportbike with a single seat, but on one with a proper dualseat it makes the pillion unbearably hot. On a lot of bikes even the up-pipes allow a lot of heat to drift up to the rider’s ass making it very uncomfortable in traffic. When you figure that new bikes must have catalytic converters to meet EU specs, the problem is even worse. In a underseat system about the only places the cats will fit is in the muffler, so that means the pillion will be even hotter. That’s probably why the Hornets and the current Suzuki R6 went back to a normal exhaust design. The cats are also heavy because of all the extra heat shields that must be wrapped around them. Having them under the seat then raises the center of gravity unacceptably.
Solid engineering reasons why a street bike benefits from an underseat exhaust? None.
