This years Tour de Taiwan starts on Sunday. While not quite the Tour de France, it does offer some professional cycling in Taiwan.
It starts in Kaohsiung at 10am Sunday, and finishes at Taipei City Hall 8 days later.
- Stage 1: 9 March (Sun) Kaohsiung City (Love River)
- Stage 2: 10 March (Mon) Pingdong County
- Stage 3: 11 March (Tue) Zhanghua County
- Stage 4: 12 March (Wed) Taizhong City
- Stage 5: 13 March (Thu) Xinzhu City
- Stage 6: 14 March (Fri) Taipei County
- Stage 7: 15 March (Sat) Taipei City (Nangang)
- Stage 8: 16 March (Sun) Taipei City (Taipei City Hall)
Stage 1 and Stage 8 are definitely criterium stages (40 or so laps), and I’m pretty sure Stage 7 at Nangang is also criterium. Last years race had a crit in Taizhong as well, but I’m not sure about this year.
You should be able to get info (Chinese only) from www.cycling.org.tw but as of this morning they hadn’t updated anything and it was still showing 2007 details.
The Taipei Cycling Show is being held in conjunction with the race.
