What’s sad is that there are a few coaches that are capable of leading this team effectively, for example, 2016’s Manager of the Year Yeh who led the Eda Rhinos to the championship, but because of idiotic political power struggles Kaku, who got sacked by his team last year, got to manage Team Taiwan yet again.
The same idiotic power struggles put a non-professional organization in charge of organizing the WBC, a professional tournament, causing the professional teams to fracture and not able to put together the best team.
The fate of Team Taiwan for this WBC was decided when CTBA was put in charge and they chose Kaku as the manager.
Back in that post I said
I am just sad to see my premonitions were correct. It’s even more sad that 3 of the 4 professional teams broke away from their boycott this time, allowing CTBA to stay in charge.
This is going to take a toll on Taiwan’s professional baseball, again very sad, but it’s gonna happen.
