It’s a training technique, I suppose. 3-minute run: 1 minute walk. Builds stamina.
For me it’s a way of finding the sweet spot for running, so I don’t run too fast and tire myself out or overheat. I was doing 5:1 last month, but it was just too hot in the AM to continue doing that. Temps have come down, so time to up the ante again.
I like that. I don’t know if you do facebook, but there is a “Slow AF Runners” (or something like that) group. Some of their posts are funny AF.
Take your time on the run during the race, but do be aware of their cutoff time (usually no problem but I’ve done a triathlon relay where our swimmer almost didn’t make it).
There’s no How Was Your Run Today thread so I’m posting here. I took the day off today and went for a mountain run with my son. It’s hot out there. But I thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s official, Timmy is definitely better than me on the mountains.
Run 5k this morning after not been able to run much last month. Getting lot of „slow running“ video suggestions on YT these days, so l ran really slow today, not much faster than speed walking. Interesting, l guess that’s how you do ultra marathons, you don’t seem to get tired at all.
While marathons and road running events were suspended during COVID-19, they have made a comeback since last year, with events held in almost every city and county, as well as the nation’s three outlying islands.
Knocked out a quick 5k this morning. Pace is good. Legs feel great. Actually hit that sweet spot in breathing where you get that little extra at the end without feeling like you’re sucking wind .
Was pleasantly surprised by my Apple Watch applying some machine learning to my run this morning. Upon starting the workout, it asked me if I wanted to follow the same route I usually do (had a mini map and everything), and asked me what my target time was - I picked my PB, can’t remember what the other options were. During the run, it told me how far ahead of the pace I was, and also plotted elevation changes a short distance ahead of me.
My watch did shit the bed with its ML a couple weeks ago - asked if I was on a running track (yup), asked which lane I was running in (1), then proceeded to measure out 199m laps. You know, that most popular of distances.
