20GB or bigger non-apple MP3s

I’ve looked (not carefully yet) around Nova in Taichung for 20-30GB MP3 players but haven’t seen any.
I don’t want an IPod.
I know they have em in Canada.
Has anyone seen any here?

Look in the basement (Nova). You can buy iRiver and Creative players down there.

iRiver doesn’t sell anything that large these days. They said they might at the end of the year, though. Creative Zen’s there, though.

Just buy the new iPods when they get here in October. Better than anything out there.

Here and here

You’ll have to browse through them all as they seem to be randomly ordered. I’ve got the Goodman’s 20GB from the first link - it does the job for me.

My wife has a 30GB video iPod which I have compared back to back with the Zen. The Zen absolutely kicks it’s ass wrt sound quality. I want an mp3 player to actually sound good. That’s job #1, everything else is just fluff.
I actually prefer having root canal surgery to using iTunes. In sets standards in user-unfriendliness which even M$ has so far failed to match. Amazing.
Some people just DON’T WANT an iPod. Is that so hard to understand?

Yes it is. I think iTunes is wonderful and it has never given me any trouble. I doubt the iPod sounds bad, it’s more likely your headphones.

My iRiver H320 sounds significantly better than the iPod I used to have, with the same earphones, and yes, I did try playing with the EQ settings.

Comparing the same file and same headphones, Zen > iPod. /thread. Like I said, my wife has the iPod and loves it. She can hear the SQ difference between the two players and appreciates it. Her answer for her preference is “but the iPod is so cute!”
I don’t buy audio products because they are cute, fashionable or over-hyped.

I’m not going into the iTunes debate with you. If it works for you I’m happy for you. It doesn’t do what I want it to do, and what little it does, it does in a way that pisses me off.
