30% tax? WTF

Alright first post bare with me

Anyone ever heard of an employer taking 30% before 183 days and then 10% after that? I have searched and I can’t find anyone like this. Are they skimming 10% off of my pay and only submitting 20%?

Thanks

J

The non-resident rate should be 20%.

30% is the rate only if you make huge amounts cash money each month, earning money like you’re a doctor.

Brackets (Unit: NT$) Rate
0-370,000…6%
370,001-990,000…13%
990,001-1,980,000…21%
1,980,001-3,720,000…30%
3,720,001 and over…40%

However, I believe that the law stipulates that a foreigner who has been in Taiwan for more than 90 days yet less than 180 days should be classified a non-resident and therefore in most cases should have 20% withheld. The only exceptions according to TTC.gov.tw Part D, Withholding Rates are Profits Paid to Partners or to the Owner of a Sole
Proprietorship that were not approved by a Statute of Investments.
