I don’t think anyone disputes that there are flying objects, lights or other visual phenomena in the sky which are unidentified.
Excellent point, RDO.
I would also like to ask the alien enthusiasts to stop trying to place the burden of responsibility on others. If we don’t go “do research” by reading alien enthusiast sites, that doesn’t make us ‘lazy’. It simply means we have better things to do with our valuable time.
The British government seems to think the report proves enough. A Ministry of Defense spokesperson tells the press that: “both this study and the original ‘Flying Saucer Working Party’ [already in public domain in the national Archives] concluded that there is insufficient evidence to indicate the presence of any genuine unidentified aerial phenomena.”
They have no plans for any similar or deeper UFO analysis.
How did the British get the Freedom of Information Act? They stole it from us.
The whole report is here.
The problem I have with so many alien enthusiasts is that they don’t give due diligence to finding terrestrial explanations and jump to the “extra” part. Then if there isn’t a good explanation they tend to make the mistake of the fallacy of false dilemma, assuming that if it isn’t disproven it must be true.
By the same token, there are a lot ill-informed and down right cynical comments made to some rather good points/obsevations.
However,I am more than interested in anyones comments on the following:
No UFO reported, investigated, and evaluated by the Air Force has ever given any indication of threat to our national security.
There has been no evidence submitted to or discovered by the Air Force that sightings categorized as “unidentified” represent technological developments or principles beyond the range of present day scientific knowledge.
There has been no evidence indicating the sightings categorized as “unidentified” are extraterrestrial vehicles.
But of course, anything the government says is disinformation. Anything the UFO-ologists say it true. It’s their word against ours. Proof? What is that?

You mean, those made on this thread? Other than some links to a few comparatively interesting sources, arguments made here amount to: “But it could be true! And, with the universe being so big it really has to be true that there are aliens. And if there are aliens, they’d be way wicked smart and so could come visit us. So, some UFO sightings are probably alien visitation!”
If you mean the links you’ve been posting, I’ve gone through them and found at least half of them to be dubious at best. When you mix some things worthy of discussion with stuff that’s pretty flaky, you get that kind of overall reaction.
I do agree that some things are interesting and worth discussion but the whole topic is treated with derision. But, I think that’s partly due to how it is being presented.
I didn’t read through the bottom links, but I did look through the parts about Project Signs, Project Grudge, and Project Blue Book. That was informative.
Basically, my response is: That’s what I would have expected. Only a small percentage of reports is even worth investigating. Of that small percentage most can end up with either a probable or at least plausible identification, even when absolute certainty can’t be attained. The US Air Force would have been concerned about such things initially because of the Cold War, but that interest would have been tempered by the expense and overhead that such investigations would create, leading to them sweeping a greater number under the rug out of expedience. Nothing out of the ordinary in any of that.
Not surprisingly, there was no mention of secret Air Force projects being covered up. I’m sure that has to account for at least some cases. But then, I’m sure the USAF would prefer that kept on the down low and not declassified along with the rest of everything.
I suspect official Air Force investigation continues, but under a new codename and in secrecy. But, that’s the way they should do it and that does not mean there’s any sort of conspiracy or contact with aliens. Perhaps the new investigative team is done in close connection with secret testing so that one does not interfere with the other.

What did you do,scan to a part you were looking for and ignore the rest?
“During that year Project Sign collected reports on a large number of cases, conducted some on-site investigations and many interviews, and attempted to analyze the UFO phenomenon in any way available. By the fall of 1948 the lead personnel of Sign decided that their investigations pointed to a conclusion. As was usually done for any intelligence analysis, they then composed what the military called an “Estimate of the Situation” which they sent to their superiors in the Pentagon. Their conclusion:
The flying-disk phenomenon was caused by extraterrestrial agencies.
This created a great stir in the Pentagon. Authorities there were unwilling to accept it. The fallout of this consternation resulted in a quashing of the document, and a denial to the public that it had ever existed.”
D.O, at least you presented a well thought out post. Negative criticsm is much more acceptable as opposed to arrogance.

No. There’s three or four Air Force studied done since 1948 and they all say the same thing. But it’s all a cover up according to reputable sources at UFO-onomers inc.
A lot of people say they saw UFOs. A lot of people say they saw the Virgin Mary. Who am I to say they are lying? I want the aliens to land on the Whitehouse lawn in front of TV cameras and say howdy like polite beings do. Is that so hard?

Aye, laddie. You’re a good teacher.
What’s with the lights thing anyway ? Flying saucers work by manipulating gravity. So why are they sometimes seen as lights at night, and sometimes as plain grey discs ?

After Project Bleubook (disinformation project)was officially closed in 1969, there were NO other official studies done by the military/US Govt. You know something I don’t?
And as for your last comment…the answer is out there if you care to search.
“You want the truth? You can’t handle the truth”
It’s plain that you don’t got none. If you knew anything at all you put it down here instead of telling everyone to look it up.
LOL I think it’s a stupid question that been asked by every debunker to date. Tell ya what though, I’m getting together with a few of the greys for a little game of poker this weekend and I’ll ask them for ya.
