In 50 Years will we’ll have houses like the one in the movie Total Recall.
Assuming that technology moves forward, and some global calamity doesn’t knock us back quite a bit, I predict a wireless future. Computers will be as innocuous as retinal implants and magnetic sensor implants under the skin of our fingers for controlling. Mp3 players will simply be integrated into our aural nerves, as will our telephones. We will be taking pictures with our actual eyes, instead of other apparatus.
I predict some kind of integration between electronics and biology. Paraplegic people will walk again, the blind will “see”, and the deaf will hear.
We will be using a variety of different sources of energy, including wind, solar and hydro. We will come up with other sources previously unexplored like gravity, biotic, kinetic, and whatever you can think of. Energy will not be wasted as it is today. All sources of energy will be explored.
The burning of fossil fuels will be mostly outlawed wordwide.
Just daydreaming…
Do we have to marry Sharon Stone and look like the Governator?
Do we have to marry Sharon Stone and look like the Governator?
Don’t be ridiculous! You’ll have to marry the Governator and look like Sharon Stone.
In 50 years cars will drive themselves.
agreed.
This can easily be done by a marker next to the cutting edge so that the end of each piece of wrap/tape is marked (colored) when it is torn off. The fresh strip automatically has a color on the end of the piece.
This is only a simple change to the angle of the pivot to the wheel. Lazy engineering.
In the future we don’t need no stupid remote controls.
Doesn’t CD-RW do that?
And computer software that allows the user to type in outline format without forcing the text into places where the user doesn’t want it to go.
Do you mean an application where you freehand draw the text box and the text wraps?
I’m not either and “I hope someday you’ll join us and the world will be as one”
I completely agree. The loveBot will be the most profitable electronic invention created and upgrades will never end.
Because guns sell, I predict the Ray-gun. It uses a high energy plasma beam or perhaps a “Laser”.
agreed.
What I would love to see:
Biomechanics
Mimetic technologies
Could you expand on these? I think I know what you mean by these terms but a description would help. By Mimetic do you mean an automatically reproduction of a technological object or process?
Definitely. Controlling natural or organic substances as objects to perform the actions that you want.
Just joking. I agree with this approach. In fact that is the approach taken by most nano-technologist or bio-technologist. Let it work for you.

I also think this is the future. Interfaces between objects will be reduced to a minimum.
The first sentence: probably in the near future. Second sentence: ah, another admirer of Tesla, eh?
In 50 years, there will be no more celebrities. Not real ones, anyway. Virtual celebrities will capture all the headlines, marry and divorce, and star in films that are beamed directly into your head. If you’re willing to pay enough, you can fuck them. Pay a little more, and you can do it without ads.
