A-bian's moneyman caught gambling in Korean casino

If/when these casino buddies are proved to have been corrupt and have broken laws, that qualifies them to run for office again and again. If the KMT and PFP can promote ex-cons, the DPP only needs to promote fewer ex-cons to be the better party. Parties are made up of individuals, and all parties have corrupt officials. Did the DPP ever claim to be corruption-free? Did they ever promise the best economy ever? I don’t think people expect them to be saints or to raise everyone’s standard of living to unimagineable heights. But, the public is willing to put up with their faults in order to reap the benefits of continuing attempts at democratic reforms as opposed to earning peace with China through surrender of funtional TI.

In any country, people vote with their pocket books. If the DPP is just as corrupt as the KMT, people will look at which party is better at administrative tasks and at managing the economy. The DPP’s record on this is piss-weak. In many respects, human rights have also deteriorated under the DPP. In my opinion, the year-end elections are going to be a real shocker for the Greens.

I will always support the Greens on the China issue, but the corruption, stupidity, and Hoklo chauvinism xenophobia in the party needs to be addressed big time. The first thing the DPP can do to clean itself up is to fire every single one of Chen’s “boy scout” advisors. They are so incompetent – especialy the ones in international development. :smiling_imp: We have stupid actresses talking about development policy, untrained volunteers doing mission monitoring, and people with no background in development being appointed as directors. Fire these clowns and fire them now. If Ma can bring back “professionalism” and “internationalism” back to the forefront, many Greens will support him cautiously, especially if the alternative is Frank “Ferdinand Marcos shirt” Hsieh.

As irrelevant and ridiculous as most of his posts are, this time I have to agree with AC; you claim to be clean, you had better be clean. And the DPP have failed on this one.

On the other hand, my point was that some number of Blue foreigners mouth the completely uninformed opinions of their Pan-Blue girlfriends and wives. The DPP have done enough really bad things that you don’t have to go making up stuff about President Chen’s kids or wife buying something that you couldn’t afford.

If CSB is really interested in cleaning up his party, he could send a strong message by ensuring Chen Che-nan is formally sentenced for this infraction of the public’s trust. It would send a message to the public that even high officials in his party are not above the law.

Other than that everytime CSB opens his mouth on the subject it is just “blah, blah, blah, yada, yada…”

Taiwan needs a independent prosecutor named Fitzgerald :smiling_imp: Then the whole adminitration will come down :uhhuh: The DPP has to bury the KH MRT fiasco, it goes ALL THE WAY UP. If they aren’t able to succeed

Chen’s family should be smarter. They should know the blues will pounce on their every mistake. The timing was stupid to buy a new, expensive car, likewise house hunting, likewise the insider stock trading. No doubt, they have the cash, but instead of looking selfish, they should do something more meaniful to help the father’s image and legacy. He needs all the help he can get. The son completing military service is old news. The family has really done nothing to help the father (in public that is).

Even CSB excuses are lame. “I’m sorry” about the Chen Che-nan incident. Sorry he was caught more like it.

And what was his excuse about his son-in-law looking at the most expensive properties in Taipei. “I didn’t know, he acted on his own.” It’s the guy married to your daughter for pete-sakes. You don’t know?

CSB and his gang have always had the best tricks to get out of uneasy situations such as this one. I would not be surprised if he comes out of this looking like the victim!

:smiling_imp:
That’s because the pan-Blue don’t campaign on “anti-corruption” platform.

So who is the less trustworthy party. The one the makes empty promises or the one that tries to make good on thier party platform. Pan Blue show every intention of trying to engage the PRC in cross strait relationship, which is their campaign promise.
The KMT failed 1 billion people when they were kicked out of China. Makes you really wonder who failed to deliver on promises…

Its amusing that you claim the Pan Blues are better simply because they don’t campaign on an anti-corruption platform even though they are just as corrupt if not more so.

As stated before the KMT failed on the mainland because the USA stopped backing the KMT on the mainland. So it was not entirely the KMT fault since the CCP still had the full support of the USSR at the time.

The KMT are better because instead of selling false hope, broken promises, and outright lies, they are trying to set realistic expectations.

So you’re right in one instance I would rather support a party that understands and tries to manage the corruption, than a party that outright lies to the public that they plan to clean up corruption.

Under your logic, the KMT will fail again, as those with an opinion about defense (who are in the US Senate) asks that the KMT and the PFP stop stalling on defense. They don’t quite have US support. Even the AP once said that Lien seemed ‘befuddled and confused’ when he did his world press conference (accusing Chen of winning sympathy votes).

The KMT lost China not because of their shoddy rule? Yeah yeah, blame someone else like the Americans, all it does is show how much weaker the KMT is. If no one tucks Mayor Ma into bed at night, will you also blame the Americans?

If Mayor Ma is able to secure the future of ROC and resolve the Strait Issue, I don’t think current American foreign policy deserves any thanks.

I voted number one on the vote, they own the establishment, chances are the video is from them. They probably have least to gain, but who else waltzes into a Casino with cameras?

What would the casino owners have to gain from this?

Publicity!!!

And the DPP used to boast about its anti-mafia campaigns :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

Lee Ching-hua dared to identify ‘Deep Throat’

I am no Deep Throat," Keh Chien-ming said yesterday.

The irate five-term Democratic Progressive Party lawmaker blasted his Kuomintang colleague Lee Ching-hua for insinuating that he was a Mark Felt of Taipei to help expose a Korean casino visit by one of President Chen Shui-bian’s top aides.

Lee said a 2002 picture showing Chen Che-nan, deputy secretary-general to the president, and his pal Chen Min-hsien at a Cheju casino was provided the TVBS cable network by a “DPP stalwart who has many business connections.”

The Kuomintang lawmaker said that “stalwart” is also known as “Master X.” Some people call Keh “Master X.” Chen Min-hsien was the vice chairman of the board of Kaohsiung Metro Company.

The casino in Cheju is known as an ideal place to launder money. The two Chens may be charged with money laundering there.

On their visit to Cheju, Lee said, they were accompanied by a police escort and six cronies. One of them was Huang Ju-yi, a mafioso who used to serve as a money laundry broker, the lawmaker said.

Hmm, CSB stripped him of his medals. Everyone’s abandoning Chen Che-nan as fast as they possibly can… any chance that he knows where the bodies are buried, and becomes a weapon for the opposition?

That’s just smoke and mirrors.

Until the Chen Che-Nan does jail time and pays a real fine, this is just theater.

Hear, hear AC. Politics is a dirty business, especially in an Asian culture. Who would you rather have: the experienced party that delivered, or the new guys who act like the worst of the old but promise something better? Actions speak louder than words, and the DPP’s grace period is running out.

Back on topic, if you wanted to get the casino picture, you would have to know that he was there. That in itself is no easy feat, as he flew out of a third country. If you buy the Annette Lu theory of politics, “the KMT are SO rich they can do anything, anything!” then maybe he was followed.

However, my money is on a DPP insider who knew that he was there, and then passed the information on to a pro-KMT third party. No way a government office pulled this off; it’s way too much effort for a system that
