A/C window how to fix the noise?

We just replaced an old style top corner little window a/c unit with a modern separate a/c (where the generator works outside). Connections for the new one (power, water, etc) are totally new places, leaving the window open.
For now it is fixed with kind of hard plastic sheet to keep at least the rain out, but obviously not the noise.
We live quite downstairs next to a busy street. It is my gf’s daughter’s room and well she needs a good sleep for her schooling.

So my question is how to fix the “hole” ? I don’t want to cement it as some sunshine coming into the room is quite appreciated.

Glass comes in my mind, but what type ? Maybe double triple layered glasses (with or without vacuum between them ?).
How about glass cubicles ?

Any ideas much appreciated, thanx to everybody

Just use double layer of glass if you want to keep it transparent.

Air is a very good insulator.
