A cheap electric guitar (eg Squier or Epiphone)

I am coming to Taiwan for 3 months in November and I was planning to bring my travel guitar. Now there are more stringent security measures travelling from the UK I am starting to wonder if this will be possible. I have a little headphone amp (a Korg Pandora) so that will be OK in the hold.

So I am considering buying a Squier or Epiphone when I arrive then selling it when I leave. I want a nice simple guitar like a telecaster or sg… definately not a pointy job with floyd rose :noway:

So where could I buy such an instrument and how much should I expect to pay?
