Hello everyone.
I just wanted to take some time to share with you my ESL games book. When I first started teaching English, some 11 years ago, I found that the “requirement” for games to be quite difficult to grasp. I had never heard of games in the classroom and was at a loss for what to play. Sure I knew the regular games like Tic-Tac-Toe and so forth, and some of them even proved useful in the younger classes, but I really had problems with the older kids. I even remember one of my students in one of my first classes saying “this game is lame”. I can giggle about this today, but then it was quite uncomfortable.
Over the years, mostly from the help of others and through experience, I started to compile a list of games. When I started working at a high school with the co-author of this book we made a decision. “Let’s sit down and filter out the tons of games we have.” We figured this book would be great for us. We never thought we would get it published and sell it to the public. We just wanted a good reference for us. But when we found a publisher, by chance, we decided to go with it.
Our games book has 55 games in it that are designed and tested to suit those classes where a sticky ball just won’t cut it. This book helps to hold the attention of Jr High School and High School students.
If you are interested in our book you can find all the info you need on our site, even some sample games that are free. If you don’t want a hard copy you can also buy the PDF file for cheaper.
