Hi, looking for a nice paper or cloth lantern in Taipei. I’m inspired by the ones at Baoan which look actually sturdy, maybe made of canvas or some really good paper laminated/waxed with something. Are there any shops that sell such a thing?
At the small crafts part of the flower/jade market, there are two booths selling painted lanterns but the lanterns are thin like tissue paper.

A couple of suggestions. You might try the Chinese Handicraft Mart
1 Xu Zhou Road, Taipei City near Taida Hospital
No idea if they have what you’re looking for but they have a wide vareity of Chinese crafts there and many of very good quality.
Or you might wander around the Taipei Artist Village not far from the Taipei Train Station and ask around.

Does anybody have any current information on where to find cloth lanterns or traditional crafts that are not cheap night market quality? Preferably near a MRT station.
