When I had snails chewing up my small vegetable garden, back in the US, I found a cheap solution: Shallow saucers of beer. The little buggers couldn’t resist, and in the morning I’d have dozens of dead snails, and my leafy greens remained leafy. It’s a cheap solution and not harmful to other animals like stray dogs and cats should they enter the garden.

So, the wife’s foot is healed a bit and we hit the google map for suggested places to go and drove to the river running through Taitung, to see Taiwan’s “Little Badlands.”
Pretty cool. The walkway was closed — maybe due to the recent typhoon. 
All in all a cool place, and then off to Taitung for some shrimp and mayonnaise. 
Then turned around for the sundown— then food.

Explain to me what I’m looking at, please. I don’t see it. The only parts I recognize are the cabbage and the plastic mayo.
