12 year?
The Glenmorangie Original is 10 year, I prefer it to the 12. Very drinkable and budget friendly
Then drink a few big cups of water before bed. That’s my strategy
yeah, I try to chug a liter of water before passing out, it helps sometimes.
Don’t be too picky about the source ha ha
Only the pristine mineral spring waters from the depths of Yangmingshan for me!
so I tried some Singleton single malt whisky last night… 200ml bottle purchased from Hi-Life, like 380 NT or so, a bit expensive. Pretty good, I drank it with ice and soda water. Perhaps blasphemy to the purists who say it should be drank “neat.” I tend to mix in some beer when I drink whiskey, I had some Kirin beers. Hangover was not too bad, but I got to sleep in for quite some time, lol… Always helps when you can sleep it off.
Currently drinking some Glenlivet 12 year double oak, single malt. Very nice. 375ml bottle from Family Mart, 660… ouch! Couldn’t find a proper price tag on it anywhere, and then didn’t want to look like a cheapskate to the cashier. Also drinking it mostly with ice and soda water, but also trying it on the rocks. Again, I can hear some of your pretentious a-holes saying that it should be drank “neat”… whateva… f*** off! Let’s see about tomorrow’s hangover, lol…
I have been gifted a few bottles of Singleton, the soda is a good choice
That’s not a terrible price for that bottle in that location. You’re paying for convenience. A large Carrefour will have ok selection and sales, but look for a well stocked small business.
Also, on the rocks is good sometimes. I will also often try a drop of still water instead of ice or soda. Soda is great for something not to your taste, ice is cooling and gives you a variety of flavor as it melts. A little drop of water can totally transform the flavor and you can get more enjoyment by finding the line between straight from the bottle and all the ice melted so its basically water now…
yes, I also really enjoy the different flavor profiles you get when you drink it on the rocks as the ice melts and dilutes it.
No more drunk posting. ha, ha. Just kidding. I’ve done my share of that. Drink the stuff any way you like. I often have bourbon on the rocks, and with the recent temps, it’s nice having a cold drink. The only thing I object to are the prices you’re paying for those small bottles. You can get very decent stuff at around 800nt for 700ml (like the Glenmorangie 10 year mentioned above). Johnnie Walker 15 year can be found for a little above 1,000nt for 700ml and that’s a very decent whisky (blended malt, meaning a mix of single malts with no grain whisky).
I say look like a cheapskate! I’ve told them more than once that I don’t want something after I’m clear on the price.
Mixing whiskey and beer has never led to good hangovers for me.
The Singleton and the other standard Glenlivet are similar to the whiskies I mentioned if I’m remembering right.
