Can you really sell Abercrombie and Fitch in Taiwan for 1500 NTD to 2400NTD per shirt? I was told that you can buy them outside Taiwan and sell them for 50USD to 80 USD (roughly 1500 NTD to 2400 NTD per shirt). My co-worker claims he goes to outlet stores in the USA and buys the discounted shirts for like 15-20 USD a piece and then sells then in Taiwan for 50 to 80 USD.
How much of a cut they take on ‘Korean’ fashion you think think … or stuff bought in HK brought in by the suitecase, at least enough to afford the plane ticket and hotel bill.
Many of those shirts are not even brought in from usa, they are made in china for 2$.
Where is he selling them? I’ve thought about doing stuff like this before. Buying name brand clothing at outlet stores in the US and reselling them here. Also thought about buying international edition textbooks here and reselling them in the US for more. Gotta love arbitrage!
They sell them in the small fashion stores around ximending or dunhua. And online. Lots of these small shop owners travel around (USA, SOUTHKOREA, JAPAN, EUROPE) fill up their suitcases and come back to sell the items for a profit. It is a nice hobby, and you can make some small money by doing it.
I met a couple of Irish guys who used to make a plane ticket to Japan and more just by selling band T Shirts to music shops. They would buy them in Dublin or London for 10 pounds, then take them to Tokyo and sell them for a fair profit. After filling their suitcases, they used to walk on the plane physically wearing the T-Shirts, 20-25 at a time on their bodies, so they could hardly walk.
This was 10 years ago, so things change, I guess, but there’s always something you can flog if you keep your eyes peeled.

Why did they need to wear them, it wouldn’t be illegal to bring so many in I believe. and these days you would likely be ‘probed’ for your efforts!
Yes, already ten years ago there was a thing called ebay, which made this travelling a waiste of time and money, unless you like travelling and shopping. Which is what most of those girls owning this kind of store are after. Imo
This was pre-9/11, they would’ve just looked fat. You can’t get stopped for that.
I think this was after filling their suitcases to the brim/luggage weight allowance.
I saw an Abercrombie & Fitch store near the Taimall in Nankan yesterday. I don’t shop there but I found it very odd and out of place. I live in Taoyuan and was riding the 5059 bus from the airport back into the area by the train station. I’m guessing it’s a not part of the Abercrombie & Fitch chain of stores but it could be like what was mentioned above and people who buy it from outlets in the US and sell it here.
There is a Abercrombie & Fitch outlet at the B2 floor of the Outlet Mall (same building of Holiday Express Inn), near the Taichung park. I went there yesterday and the prices were average, not that expensive, many people were shopping there.
