Aboriginal government

am i reading this right.

the taiwanese are starting to set up an independent aboriginal government in taiwan. :astonished: isn’t this the same as the one china two systems principle. we’re going to have two completely independent governments but we’re all equally taiwanese? how does that work? won’t it just make the ethnic tension worse? :loco:

The article refers to autonomy, not independence.

If the aboriginal succeed, I recommend the pan-Blue and pan-Green also set up autonomous governments on Taiwan.

I don’t see the connection between giving native people autonomy and unrest. I think it would be the opposite. Have you ever been to Lan Yu? (Orchid Island) Those people definitely have their own thing going on and don’t need Taiwan’s government. The government intervention has done nothing but piss these people off!!

Something like “one country, two systems” depends on the scale of the whole thing. And the people involved.

We Taiwanese are the aboriginal government. There is no need for debate on this issue.

You seem to have misunderstood the definition of “aboriginal” there son.
